Tricky Tourist Visa situation with re-entrance into Thailand

Featured Replies

Hello! I am a 25 year old from the United States. My girlfriend and I will be doing some around the world traveling, and will have a tricky situation with Thailand visas.

  • Arriving in Thailand around November 28th. We'll stay ~1.5 months (which is over the 30 day mark). What's the best way to extend beyond the initial 30 days? Should we just do it while we're in the country? I'd prefer to handle this before leaving, but I can't find any means of doing this online
  • Afterwards, we're during a tour through southeast Asia, and returning back to Thailand on March 31st. We'll be quickly flying back out of Thailand within a few days. How can I cleanly get my 2nd tourist visa, since we'll be all over the place with no permanent residence at this time?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Second trip no problem -. you get 30 days each time you enter Thailand

For first trip get a tourist visa if you can pinpoint arrival within 3 months validity as that will allow 60 day stay. If not make a border crossing for an extra 15 days from the 30 day visa exempt entry.

You should get single entry tourist visa visas ($40 each) for your first entry here that will give 60 days. You can get them from the Thai embassy or any of the consulates in the states.

For the 2nd entry you can enter by air and get 30 days or 15 by land.

Where is the tricky part of this thread?

Is there a 2nd post that I missed?

1. Know for sure your travel dates - get a VISA around end of September

2. Otherwise do border run. A lot of them from Cambodia boring but cheap and to flight to Malaysia then back same day.

3. FYI there is NOT any online extensions :)

2. Not good advice. They will not have ticket out of the country within 30 days on arrival and could be denied boarding by the airline.
