Kuala Lumpur for 30 day extension

After being (correctly) refused a 30 day extension on my 60 day tourist visa - I left Thailand for 8 days in Cambodia - I need to obtain a 30 day visa exempt entry, and was considering kuala lumpur as a destination to fly back into bangkok.

New to all this so excuse my newb questions.

Is Kuala Lumpur a good destination for doing this?

Just had a quick look online and need to get this booked today with airasia. But it seems...

I don't need a Malaysian visa being from the UK.

Cheap flights.

Cheap enough hotels/guest houses for 2 nights.

I rarely book hotels in advance so is there plenty of cheap accommodation?

Anything I need to be aware of regarding obtaining a 30 day visa exempt entry when flying from kualar Lumpur onto Bangkok?

Thanks.

You can leave Thailand and just come back the same day.

No problems with using KL, many people do that.

Take also a look at prices to Penang, same procedure.

Lots of cheap backpacker places on Chulia street.

Actually you were correctly refused a 30 day extension to a visa exempt entry - if you actually had been on a 60 day tourist visa you could have obtained the extension being on a UK passport.

As said Malaysia is a good and cheap flight turnaround or you could overnight to obtain a new tourist visa if any chance 30 days would not be enough.

Thanks for that.

I would rather spend a day or two in Kuala Lumpur as I've never been there before.

So, I fly out on Aug 31 and return to bangkok on Sept 02 (date I would have had to leave Thailand by).

£60 with airasia

Not having to pay the $60 for the 30 day visa extension which was refused, and no visa needed for malaysia makes this trip the better option I think.

Why is it around 3 hours going there but only around 1 hour flying back?

Flight probably stops somewhere on the way.

Thanks for that.

1 hour time difference.

Book a hotel in the area of Changkat Bukit Bintang. Lots of hotels of varying prices and it has many restaurants and bars and only 1km from city centre.

Enjoy :)

Time difference + 1 hour on Thai time......... so same same 2 hours flight.

Different time zones - Thailand is one hour different.

when in KL

try the beach club

loads of Thais in there

good pizza

why even fly away from bkk to get another 30 days visa exemption (and your 90 day reporting reset lol)?

just stamp out, turn around at airport transit, stamp in again & refund the unused air ticket :P

yup free visa extension without even leaving bangkok :)

worldfun

I am not sure that what you are suggesting is 100% "kosher " whistling.gif
