TEFL courses with Guaranteed Jobs for Applicants without a Degree

my name is Frazer, I am a 21 year old from Leeds, England. I am currently travelling in Australia and plan to head to Thailand around mid September.

My career Aim is to become a Primary school Teacher, I will therefore eventually return to England to Complete an ED degree but i am in no rush to do so and hope to gain some experience teaching in Thailand first.

I was hoping to teach English in Thailand for 1 or 2 years. I have experience volunteering at a school in the South Pacific.

anyway, I have been looking into my options in Thailand without a Degree and I think the best thing for me to do is to enroll on a TEFL course.

While looking for a course I came across a few companies offering a guaranteed Job placement.

generally these courses offer a guaranteed Job placement with a minimum of 25000 baht per month.

From my Experience in Thailand(9 months Studying Muay Thai and Thai Language in Rawai,Phuket) 25'000 is plenty.

I wondered if anyone has had any experience with these companies?

and any Advice on Finding Employment in Thailand would be great.

I've experience with Island Tefl and they were good.

Although I didn't require a placement, the others on the course were looking for one and they all got teaching positions.

AFAIK 2 of them didn't have degrees and still got jobs, this was in 2011.

PM me if you need any more details

Generally speaking, any with a "job guarantee" are nothing but scams. Ask if you can pay for the course after you get the so called "job" and have held it for call it six months. The Thai's often use agencies which is the method for said "guarantee" however they have been known for letting teachers go without notice when they are "agency" teachers. It's a matter of them, the Thai staff, liking you or not. It has nothing to do with your TEFL, college degree, or anything else. Race, gender, and age play a larger role than any educational experiences you may have had. All that said, teaching in Thailand is great if you can deal with the pressures of high school kids and lack of common sense which often confronts you in daily life.

There's only one tiny problem with your quite devastating dismissal of 'guaranteed jobs' - they are nearly always optional.
