NIght bus to Koh Chang?!

Hey,

Does anyone have tjhe latets on whether there are night buses leaving from either from Ekkamai bus station or from Subarnabhumi to Trat/Laem Ngop etc.?

Responses much appreciated - heard contradictory reports on whetther they still exist or are off now (late August 2013)...

I think there is 1 bus leaving from Ekkamai to Trat at 11 pm, not sure if it's the last in the night, arriving in Trat around 4'30 in the morning.

Be aware that the first ferry to Koh Chang is starting around 7am, so you'll have some hours to wait.

Also be aware that the ferry no longer leaves from Ngop. That one closed. I was there 3 months ago. Beautiful little town though, and they can tell you the easy ride to where the ferry leaves from now. Great Tourist Center in Ngop. Wonderful educated English speaking employees that will give you cookies and a bottle of water, maps, and direct you to everything. Best customer service that I have found in Thailand.

its from BOTH-at 23.00-or 10/15 mins later. the Mochitbus also serves swampy BUSterminal-if prebooked (done before start off from Mochit). End at BUSstation Trat-a little out of town with nothing closeby. The Ekamai bus tends to sell out quicker.

It hardly matters where the ferry now leaves from-as you catch the pickup=songhthaew and the driver will surely know where to put you down. fare 50 bt.

Google for a site like whitesands.com-it has mostly info on real estate, but also a useful section on how to get to Trat-islands.

Worth knowing there are plenty of cheap accommodation options in Trat town if you want to arrive at night then head to the islands next morning.
