Hi

My better half has visited the UK on a UK Visitor Visa about 5 or 6 times with no problems. She has a daughter from a previous marriage who has turned 18 and we would like to bring her over to the UK for a month next year for a holiday.

She is at school at the moent but is starting to apply for universities and by the time she visits (next April), a university place should have been confirmed. She will be travelling to the UK with my gf. She will be staying for about a month but my gf will be staying longer and therefore they travel back separately.

  • Will the daughter have to apply for a UKVV seperately to her mother now that she is 18?
  • Will she need her own passport now that she is 18?
  • I will be acting as sponsor for both but I will not be able to show any evidence of a relationship with the daughter apart from lots of photo's of us all over the years - how do I overcome this?
  • The daughter doesn't have a bank account and therefore can't show any evidence of earnings (she's still at school)

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Taz

The daughter also needs to make a separate visa application; this is the case no matter the age of the child.

You have shown a relationship with her mother, so I can't see a problem relationship wise.

If you are paying for the trip, then she does not need to provide any evidence of her own finances. You do, of course.

However, she will need to show that she has a reason to return to Thailand.

The last time my step son visited us in the UK he was at university in Bangkok. He obtained a letter from the university confirming his attendance and when he was due back, and another saying the same from one of his tutors.
