Thailand awaits UN resolution

BANGKOK: -- Foreign Minister Surapong Tovichakchaikul said on Friday that Thailand would rather follow the United Nations resolution whether it should mobilise military forces to Syria.

Surapong said that Thailand would be in a difficult situation if joining the US-led mission, which is not endorsed by the other four permanent members of the UN Security Council.

Not asking for the UN Security Council’s resolution, the US is seeking endorsement from the UK and Germany. There would be no such resolution, without the consensus from the 5 permanent members - US, Russia, China, France and the United Kingdom.
