webfact
Mother and daughter face charges of human trafficking and conspiracyBANGKOK, 30th August 2013 (NNT) – Mother and daughter face charges of human trafficking and conspiracy related to the Bahrain case.According to Minister of Social Development and Human Security Ms. Pawina Hongsakul (ปวีณา หงสกุล), police have detained two women suspected of human trafficking. Mother and daughter, Ms Kanarat Munoch, aged 49 and Ms. Aricha Sinkum, 28, have been charged with taking part in a human trafficking scheme. The two are suspected of conspiring, luring and kidnapping through deception, force, and rape. The arrest took place yesterday in Chumpae (ชุมแพ) district, Khon Kaen. The arrest was subsequent to a human trafficking case in early August, when the Pavena Foundation was notified by Mr. Gong Sommut (ก้อง สมมุติ) that his wife and 2 friends had been victims of human trafficking. According to Mr. Sommut, his wife, Ms. Nuan and two female friends had been deceived into working as traditional Thai masseurs in Bahrain. Upon arrival, the three women were allegedly met by a Bahraini and a Thai who confiscated their passports and return tickets before forcing them into prostitution. Ms. Nuan had reportedly made a secret phone call to her husband for help and on August the 17th, the women returned to Thailand after being rescued by police with the help of the Royal Thai Embassy in Manama.Police said all suspects denied accusations and that there are many more suspects, both Thai and Bahraini, who have been involved in trafficking women to Bahrain. Police are still gathering more evidence with the help of the the Interpol in order to prosecute the suspects to the full extent of law.-- NNT 2013-08-30
Popular Post ccarbaugh
Reports like this, and the 4 year-old yesterday, make me wonder how such a VERY high percentage of the Thai population still remain convinced that Thais are superior and that all problems in Thailand are caused by the all the heathen, ungrateful, despicable farang "guests" that they have generously allowed to visit their pristine country.
Popular Post lujanit
Human trafficking has to be one of the most heinous crimes that exist because it nearly always means kidnapping, rape, forced labour and often death (murder by any number of means; lack of food/water, medical care etc). I don't think we can begin to imagine the terror victims must experience. People who perpetrate such crimes are not fit to be called human and have no place in society. My personal view is that capital punishment is the only sentence to be exacted. No jail, just get rid of this type of scum. Sorry if I offend anyone. As Charlie Brown always said the worst thing on earth is 'mans inhumanity to man'. Edit: why is it that sometimes a post appears blank? A bug in the system? Carrerakiss
Prosecuted to " the full extent of the law", eh. Not often you see that in Thailand. But there's no doubt that Thai authorities in general are looking out for some headline grabbing human trafficking cases, so that they have some ammunition to show the US they have made great improvement in their HT record. Or maybe the motivation is to improve the HT record so as to eliminate the industry long term, rather than just a short term fix to assuage current US concerns. But I have my doubts. Yes. I listen to Thais talking about events like this as if it's not happening within their country. Somehow it's another country and they take no responsibility.
expat888
If they truely want to stop corruption and behavior such as this, they need to really hammer these peope with as much as the law will provide. And for a change, keep it in the news until it's conclusion, not one day it's here and the next day it's gone. A few examples and this stuff will slow down. Baerboxer
Really saddens my heart to know that this sort of corruption still continues in between the Thai and the Middle east , I have to bite my toungue too much in the disatification , dam_n cant even spell now , hope the world can come to it's own justice , but I know it never will. Not just Thailand. The Middle East is full of Russian, Chinese, Thai, Malaysian, Korean, Japanese and assorted East European tarts. Some places - Dubai, Bahrain its more visible. They know where the money is - wealthy arabs and well paid bored expats. I just returned from Bahrain and two Thai "ladies" were deported onto the flight. A police office escorted them to the front of the gate and their documents were handed to one of the airline workers. They were both talking and texting on their phones incessantly till boarded. Both were well dressed with expensive accessories and one started flirting with a fist class passenger. He actually asked for her number ! It's awful for ones who are conned, trafficked and abused. The people responsible are scumbags and deserve eradication. But, a lot seem quite happy and willing to be working there. I saw a Chinese girl waiting in reception to be collected by her client - lifts have security key. No minder. She could have "escaped" anytime she wanted to by asking the hotel staff or security. Instead I heard her ringing base and asking for a next appointment. All of these girls have to give an address in Bahrain, duration of stay and the reason for their visit to the immigration officer before entering. This is well organized and I can't imagine it's a mother and daughter operation from Issan somehow, Edited August 30, 2013 by Baerboxer

I guess we forget the cheapest thing on this planet is life, it is the only thing that costs nothing to make..... well dont keep it such a big secret, which bar have you been going to? In which country? I've seen a few, and you think that the trafficking of anyone, bar girls, fishing trawlers or whatever is OK. I broke up with a girl because of the way she treated my Thai staff, and her younger sister, with her parents looking on! You don't need to make your younger sister cry (15) because she hasn't finished the ironing!! I have seen Thai managers in my shop treat the people under them like dirt, go watch a Thai soapy....... It's the culture, who is at the top? Go and read about the word Khun, where it came from, and what the hierarchy was before. Check out the king who abolished it and made everyone Khun, that's why his picture is in every second Thai shop you go into !!! Research more about the history of where you are living, you don't understand anyone’s point of view until you see where they come from!!!
