17,000 Saudis visit Thailand despite ban

webfact

Recommended Posts

Correction please. In my 30+ years of living in the Middle East, including KSA, I have very rarely come across a Saudi or indeed a Muslim who eats pork. However I always remember Riyadh to the biggest boozed up place 'on earth', and Jeddah, a fair representation of a brothel. Don't need to go there any more pleased to say.

Indeed. It's amazing how many people have furtile imaginations and believe KSA to be a mass of religious fanatics. Yet, they've never been there.

Certainly, I saw a lot of non Saudi ladies in Jeddah and was told I could have a drink there if I wanted, no problem.

Apparently the nerve gas used on Syrian children also came from Saudi Arabia. Etc.etc.etc. theres a lot of heavy duty crime coming from that place and while I agree with the "blue diamond" post above, I think you will find there are places in SA where you could experience all those crimes that you listed happening in Bangkok, with a cherry ontop.

But obviously, countries with strict religious laws and taboos, be they sex or gambling, you will always see a mass-exodus towards countries where those taboos are rightly laughed at. Because fundamentally people accept many of the social norms out of duty (usually to their ancestors or direct family) but don't agree with them and find them difficult to live by. You can also chart globally nations where people are allowed to express themselves (in whatever way) and map them with nations that are generally happier and healthier and less violent. Is interesting.

Do you have any facts to support your views that chemical attacks took place in Syria (the UN would be interested) and that the agent used was supplied by KSA? Can you substantiate your accusations of heavy duty crime please? Have you ever actually been there?

Thailand attracts sex tourists from many countries. It also attracts many decent families who certainly don't come for the cheap booze, cheap tarts and easily available sexual deviants. To suggest all Saudi tourists are sex tourist is bigotry. Unless you have some proof otherwise. It is the same as suggesting all Thai ladies are whores, willing to sell themselves. And I know many people who have never been to Thailand are stupid enough to think that.

You think Thailand is a crime free, happy go lucky democracy, with little violence? This case highlights just how high and wide corruption infests here, the lack of law enforcement and the contempt and utter disregard for anyone who is not a hiso Thai. Everyone else is expendable.

The Saudis are victims here - victims of Thai crime, corruption, and lies. Yet we get posters whose only contribution is to slag off the Saudis and make unsubstantiated comments. If they made the same comments about Thailand they would be charged with defamation or ruining the country's image or some such.

i take issue with your last 2 lines...were always slagging off thailand..you were doing so well up to that point hahahahahahaclap2.gif we must be slagging them off cos posters are always saying if you dont like it here go back to your own country..be cool

Yep - and Gen. Pisit and his boys are watching you !! thumbsup.gif

It's not a serious ban or more Saudis would end up paying the penalty (if there even is one) after they arrive back home with their passports stamped 'Thailand.'

A large number of Saudis go to Thailand for medical treatment. They generally go as a family group. If the males were just looking for prostitutues, they can always go to Bahrain where the bizness caters to their specific cultural requirements.

Maybe they like the beauty of SE Asian women rather than those ... found in their own country. I certainly do! thumbsup.gif

Where are they going to go when they have converted the whole world to a Muslim belief? Maybe look back with regret and think "you know what, the West wasn't so bad after all".

Islam, as a religion, does not seek out converts aggressively unlike Catholics and Evangelists. Yet it's growing much more? Ever wondered why?

The perception of world wide conversion is to believe all Moslems are like the loony terrorists and uneducated pakistani and afghan fanatics. Most are not.

I certainly do wonder why. As a religion/way of life it certainly has nothing to offer me. I like to socialise with women as well as men, enjoy music, the movies, a few beers and a nice glass of wine. I also believe in the equality of the sexes and humane treatment towards animals. Need I go on? Oh, and I also believe in sexual freedom.

I await with baited breath the "it could happen anywhere" nonsense from the apologists.

Don't you just hate it when you make a simple typo? thumbsup.gif.pagespeed.ce.dtxKiAJ9C7.gif alt=thumbsup.gif width=25 height=19>

How do you know it was a typo? Perhaps the gentleman likes eating maggots.

" Apparently........" apparent to whom ?

It has also been reported that primary chemicals that could be used to make sarin were exported to Syria from the UK, within the last 12 -18 months.

There are 3 significant signatories missing from the Chemical Weapons Convention: Syria, Egypt and North Korea.

So, who knows ?

Firstly sorry for the method of reply, I am currently in a hotel in Bahrain for work. I have worked in a few Arab countries, Algeria, Libya, UAE, and soon Saudi Arabia.

The first thing I can think of to your comments is the word CULT!!!

The second thing is the ability to (not be able to) reason, and I am talking about technical things as well as religious here. It is all " parrot fashion", out of a book.

Take a look at the Arab states now and what turmoil there is, if it wasn't for dictators holding them in line (Gaddafi, Saddam, Mubarak...) there would be and is chaos. This is undeniable, democracy doesn't work!!! The second Ayatollah Whatever says Jihad it's all over. Look at the recent elections in Iran, if the Ayatollah said you couldn't stand for president that was it.

Why do these people always want to live in "Western" countries? Then when they do why do they want to change those countries that have accepted them for what they are to be the same as the countries they just left?

Is this a form of "fifth column"? Some countries in Europe have a staggering amount of Muslim immigrant population. Is it a 2 way street? try building a Catholic church in down town Benghazi!!!

I am not trying to go off subject here or hijack the thread but your post needed an answer.

As for people "painting" these people into a stereo type, well, why was the sewerage line on one of my rigs blocked with condoms, there were no women on the rig.....

I'll leave that one for you to work out.......

Good luck in KSA - you'll need it from your post. If you've worked and lived in many countries I'm surprised you generalize them in your comments. The countries are different. Democracy certainly is an issue - but do you think it works in the West at the moment?

Education and reason - true that many education systems are failing. But, in many of these countries it was never allowed. Now people are waking up.

The last sentences could equally be a stereo type comment about those who work on oil & gas rigs !

Interesting that many of the younger and well educated people I meet from Arab countries also do. They really have little time for the religious zealots.

Ladies in many Moslem countries, the more wealthy and better educated countries, are more equal than many think. However, sexual freedom - the West liberalized divorce and adultery laws. Look at the social problems it's created. All freedoms are fine, if they respect a correct social framework. Defining the framework is the hard part!

The loonies in the Taliban, Al Qaeda and other extreme groups are not representative of most Moslems. Stopping girls going to school and whipping people etc. They are nutters, like the Spanish Inquisition were.

"17,000 Saudis visit Thailand despite ban"

Maybe its "because of ban".

judging from my experience on their behavior in the USPosted Image

The ban is imposed by Saudi government, not by Thai government.

Sorry some Saudis got hurt in Bangkok. Now anyone want to talk about the treatment given 3 world workers in Saudi Arabia ?

How is that on topic? Read some bad cases of maids being treated very badly whilst I lived there. Really horrendous. I remember one lady being chained and fed like a dog, one having nails pushed into her body and another being executed for murdering the families baby. All pretty grim reading, but covered in the press.

But there are many workers there from Philippines, African and Indian Sub-continent countries and Malaysia.

The labour camps are not good, some better than others. But, how do most countries treat their migrant workers?

Where else can they fill their bellies with pork and booze and ravage pretty girls of the night?  Thailand!

They can afford girls and booze of any kind in there immidiate neighbouring countries, as far as pork is concerned I don't think its an attraction here in Thailand.

They should complete the list with how many of these Saudi's drank Alcohol, slept with women outside their marriage and ate pork.

Then they would have a never ending list....

Only Saudies slept with women outside their marriages and drank alcohol?

Good point AA, can we assume the upcountry sheep are known as "baa" girls?rolleyes.gif

Correction please, Pakistanies are not uneducated, most of the Afghans are not fanatics. Only a small fraction falls in the hands of masterminds and the whole nation have to regret it.

There are certainly not the upheavales in most of the Muslim countries, why do all these people want to move to them?

"Education and reason - true that many education systems are failing. But, in many of these countries it was never allowed. Now people are waking up."

You can't wake up if you cannot see, there is very little wrong with the education systems, many have been schooled in the West. The ability to question and reason is the problem. Yes not only the Arab states but a contributing factor.

"The last sentences could equally be a stereo type comment about those who work on oil & gas rigs !"

All the Expats live on the rig site, the locals have their own camp ... for many reasons, it has only happened here in 15 years at the jobs in many different countries. Twice they were caught in the act, an older guy with a younger one. I guess there is a pecking order huh
