Hello to everyone here. I am new so please bear with me and forgive me if I am asking something that has already been asked a million times.

I am 36-years-old, currently in the UK but on the verge of being offered a position in Bangkok. (My girlfriend is Thai, hence the fact I have been searching for employment in Thailand). The position does provide a work permit but I am not sure of the exact process I need to follow, and I'm not too sure that my employer does either as they have only employed Thai nationals up until now.

Am I right in assuming that my employer needs to provide some kind of letter or contract to me, and then I take that to the embassy here BEFORE I leave, or am I totally wrong about that?

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thank you in aniticpation - Andrew.

Vinny, thanks for pointing me in the right direction - that information is very useful.

I am certainly NOT a troll, as suggested by Stealth, but I know you only have my word for that. I'll be starting work in Bangkok this coming June for a publishing company, and I'm sure I will be a regular on this site in time.

Regards - Andrew.

Hi Andy,

I went through a similar situation last year (first farang employed at a Thai company). Try to get someone at the business "working your case" so to speak. Hound them over and over as to the progress of your paperwork, letters etc as they'll usually leave it all to the last minute. Once you've got your Non-B visa get them to start the work permit paperwork immediately and hound them about it as it can take ages to get it all together.

Good luck.
