Last week I ordered a chess set from India and its has arrived at the post center in Raksi. Does one usually have to pay duty taxes on stuff on Ebay?

Doesnt matter which store or venue, if purchased outside the country it may be liable for duty dependant on classification of goods. You as the importer are liable if due.

I believe India and Thailand have free trade agreement.

How lucky do you feel?

• if it is valued under 1000 baht it is supposed to be duty free according to my wife(she manages an export business) but as we have found out the customs people set their own values and it is way over what you pay. Bought a pair of boots off ebay for $20(just under 600 baht) and had to pay 1200 baht import but it was still cheap for the type of boots I wanted. Just go with the flow, as I have had other items come through for nothing.

Shipped by Standard post office and not courier company you won't pay anything except if you are very unlucky.
