Popular Post ratcatcher
"Ms Yingluck's trip marked the first visit of a Thai prime minister to Montenegro which could be a new potential market for Thai trade and investment." should read.......... The first trip of a Thai prime minister to Montenegro since the real Thai prime minister took out Montenegrin citizenship a few years ago after fleeing justice from corruption charges, among others, in his own country. Since Montenegro is widely known as a haven for criminals and a money laundering, Arms trafficking, drug trafficking, extortion, fraud, human trafficking, murder, prostitution center, Thailand feels it has a lot it can share with this small but scenically beautiful little land. But they have to amend their Constitution: "A Montenegro citizen cannot be extradited to another country" (Interpol is outside, Montenegro too) It explains why our venerated cheerleader looks already fo a refuge.?

Soi Sauce
With a population of the massive number of 620,000, you can be sure it will be a very important trading partner. The economy isn't large, either Hardly worth the trip, really, but there cannot be too many places left to visit in order to avoid parliamentary duty. Misterwhisper
Wonder what they going to cooperate with on agriculture ? Very different climates and enviroment . Do rubber trees and rice grow in Montenegro ? No, but graft and corruption grow beautifully in both countries, as they share the same climate in that respect. I am sure if those saplings are nursed right by way of both countries lending their respective expertise, they will grow into very strong plants. How about initiating a "politician exchange programme", for example? Politicians from both countries could spend some time in each other's parliaments and cabinets, thus learning valuable things from each other, for example how to skim even more public money without being caught, how to avoid the responsibility of being accountable to the public, and such little tricks. And as per tourism cooperation: Well, according to TAT figures, an astounding 211 (two hundred and eleven!) Montenegrins visited Thailand last year, so there definitely is space for development. I also expect even more Thais flocking to Montenegro in the near future, especially that kind that shouldn't flock at all but sit and wait for their respective trials in Thai courts. billd766
I found this on Wikipedia about Montenegro http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Montenegro The economy of Montenegro is mostly service-based and is in late transition to a market economy. According to the International Monetary Fund, the nominal GDP of Montenegro was $4.114 billion in 2009. The GDP PPP for 2009 was $6.590 billion, or $10,527 per capita.[27] GDP grew at an impressive 10.7% in 2007 and 7.5% in 2008.[27] The country entered a recession in 2008 as a part of the global recession, with GDP contracting by 4%. However, Montenegro remained a target for foreign investment, the only country in the Balkans to increase its amount of direct foreign investment.[28] The country is expected to exit the recession in mid-2010, with GDP growth predicted at around 0.5%.[29] However, the significant dependence of the Montenegrin economy on foreign direct investment leaves it susceptible to external shocks and a high export/import trade deficit. In 2007, the service sector made up for 72.4% of GDP, with industry and agriculture making up the rest at 17.6% and 10%, respectively.[30] There are 50,000 farming households in Montenegro that rely on agriculture to fill the family budget.[31] According to Eurostat data, the Montenegrin GDP per capita stood at 41% of the EU average in 2010.[32] Aluminum and steel production and agricultural processing make up for most of the industrial output. Tourism is an important contributor to the Montenegrin economy. Approximately one million tourists visited Montenegro in 2007, resulting in €480 million of tourism revenue. Tourism is considered the backbone of future economic growth, and government expenditures on infrastructure improvements are largely targeted towards that goal. There is more than that and the ethnic structure shows the breakdown of the population in 2011 as 2011 625,266 +0.8% It seems a very unlikely trading partner for Thailand.
