ChristianPFC
Some months ago, I bought a laptop in Bangkok (where I still live and work). It has Windows 7 in English. Most other programs and websites are in English, but some websites and programs that should be available in multiple languages are in Thai. For example https://www.blogger.com/tour_start.g is dislpayed in Thai language and I would like to read it in English Avast free antivir shows messages in Thai language Where can I set English as default language for all programs and websites? I can read Thai at intermediate level. When I used internet cafes, I had the same problem: Microsoft Word was in Thai in some internet cafes. JSixpack
Blogger.com is affiliated w/ Google, I think. Try https://www.blogger.com/?hl=en Re: other programs, go into Local and Regional settings and remove any references to Thai location, keyboard, etc.
ETatBKK
in Microsoft WORD ( 2010, 2013 ), goto top menu and find File ( 1st tag ), click on Options ( last menu item ), then in the Word Options box goto Language, select your language there. with luck, some computer already set Th / EN on the keyboard. thailoneus
Not sure whether I am addressing your issue. But this is what I use to make my notebook ncr (non country related) for Chrome. i.e. everything is in English. In providing this I am also trying not to violate any posting rules re. direct routing to other sites from TV. So I have split the link into 2. If you use it, type everything as a continuous string, and add 'om' to 'google.c' https://productforums.google.c /forum/?hl=en#!category-topic/chrome/discuss-chrome/Ve48WJ0zDIw
gazzasore
For Google search Just type /ncr after e.g. google.com.au/ncr etc save Bookmark change start page etc and it will always start on your search page that you desire Edited September 18, 2013 by gazzasore
Rorri
I might add that many sites look at your IP address so you will get adds and sites, eg Google (if you do not add /ncr) in your local language. This is really infuriating as you can not always buy from an English speaking site, an example is EA games shop, if in Thailand you are directed to the Thai EA site, no option to change language to English. ChristianPFC
Indeed, in the control panel my location is set to Thailand, I will play around with this and see how it works. https://www.blogger.com/?hl=en redirects to https://www.blogger.com/tour_start.g and the webpage is in Thai. I tried in firefox, chrome, IE, all the same. If I add something to the address, it give 404 error. Languages are set to English, according to https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/settings-fonts-languages-pop-ups-javascript?esab=a&s=language&r=0&as=s#w_languages But if I log into google with a German Email (I am from Germany), I get the website in English language. The problem obviously was that I last accessed google from an account that registered in Thailand. Another related problem (not really a problem): when I create word documents, it sometimes displays the icons with date in Thai style (month abbreviated in Thai), in Details view with "เอกสาร Microsoft Word" in Thai. Mine has it on the keyboard yet there are some that just come in Thai regardless. Not that I use it that much but when looking up locations on maps the maps are a;ways in Thai. They do give coordinates but you need a GPS to find them.

Anon999
To circumvent this problem I always download programs from a .uk site, including Avast, Open Office, etc. Doesn't work 100% but almost. As pointed out elsewhere Language and kbd settings need to be set to English/English or whatever. Don't have a problem with Avast or PayPal, however, do not use MS Office or word only Open Office as it's free and totally compatible. cooked
Can I come back to this topic? On Windows XP (yes yes, I know), I can change keyboard input language from English to Thai easily. However I have Microsoft Words 2003 installed and it has the menu bar in Thai. A Google search has several results, all of which assume that I can read Thai. I only want to use this when I am sending files to people that don't have Open Office. ...? thanks
