One of the nicest people I ever met was a ladyboy. Though not in Thailand. In Malaysia. I too lost a lot of money which was unable to be recovered by insurance on short notice. My ladyboy friend let me stay with her (no, no funny business) to save on accommodation. Not all lady boys are heartless. Really.

Yet they are a regular feature of Pattaya crime stories. So yes, form your own opinion.

I learned long ago that as they are moving towards you for one of their signature pickpocket moves,

simply tell them in very harsh Thai to stay the hell away from you. This stops them in their tracks,

allowing me to go peacefully on my way while they look for a softer target.....
