Want cheap calls from UK to Thailand? 1p minute mobile to mobiles. Calls from other countries listed

I was looking into Vectone tonight and saw they sell International Pockets. These allow you to call UK mobile to Thai mobile for 1p per minute. Calls to Thai landlines also 1p per minute. Top ups start at £7.50 to £40. The conditions are you need a Vectone PAYG Sim card and you have to use the top up within 30 days.

With Apple's latest update of their iPhone and iPad operating system (iOS 7), they have introduced FaceTime audio.

Although I haven't tried it yet to ascertain quality, it gives yet another possibility, to make free iPhone or iPad to iPhone/iPad voice calls over the internet.

Perhaps we might get a write up from someone who has tried it here on TV.

I have a sim card from them and bought one of the bundles and used it to call Thailand. I was charged at 1p per minute. That is cheaper than Giffgaff who I thought were the cheapest on the go and who I also use, having a dual sim phone.

Maybe some people do have problems yet between giffgaff and vectone they are way cheaper than the normal mobile networks. Cheaper in most cases than say o2 who have a card for international calls.

I used to use VOIP from the landline at the house yet was charged to dial the 08xx number by Virgin even if I did not get a connection to Thailand because the number was busy,for example. And on top of that the VOIP call payment.

Each to their own, I am currently happy at 1p per minute. The sim card is free so no cost involved there. If they do change their rates I have the second option of using giffgaff + the third option of VOIP via the landline.

You are missing the very obvious cost of the having to purchase a bundle for £7.50 every month before you can get access to the 1p per minute call to a Thai mobile.

Whereas you can use GiffGaff in conjunction with 18185.co.uk for 1.5p per minute without any need for an ongoing spend qualification.

If for very short calls, you can use the LocalPhone CallBack system for 2.5p a minute from any mobile telephone.

Of course if Vectone is your main provider and you are fully utilising the contents of your paid for bundle, then it's not a bad deal.
