September 26, 201312 yr Online harassment targetedCHULEEPORN ARAMNETTHE NATIONBANGKOK: -- A JOINT CAMPAIGN for personal data protection and against sexual harassment on social media has been launched by the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce (UTCC), the Thai Netizen Network and the Heinrich Boll Foundation. They also urged the Information and Communications Technology Ministry and the Education Ministry to produce guides for Internet usage and make them available to schools and parents.Speaking at yesterday's 2nd Online Privacy and Communications Surveillance Conference, UTCC Rector Saowanee Thairungroj said many users shared private information, transactions or personal pictures via the Internet, making them a potential target of criminals or hackers. The conference was seeking to raise public awareness and encourage more research on this issue.UTCC law lecturer Jompon Pitaksantayothin noted that social-media sites such as Facebook and Twitter require users to input personal information including pictures, which can leave them vulnerable to sexual harassment and even stalking by ill-intentioned users. He said that while the number of such cases was growing, the public had little knowledge on good practice for Internet usage and Thailand had no direct law to punish online wrongdoers. He urged that handbooks on Internet usage be provided for the public, while also recommending that Internet users only upload low-resolution photos of themselves, and refrain from sharing important personal information or images of their sexual exploits over the Internet.-- The Nation 2013-09-26

September 26, 201312 yr Whatever you do please don't cut down on sexual content on the Net, how else are MPs supposed to pass the time while sitting in the House ?
September 26, 201312 yr I am becoming confused with the government's duties. It appears that it is coming up with fluff like this every day.
September 26, 201312 yr dont they know porn is safe sex??? would they rather have the kids visit the famous places and learn from there?...in an unsafe way??? oh yea, whatever keeps the economy going and money flowing....
September 26, 201312 yr I say let people ruin their lives by letting people photograph them or sending people naked pictures of themselves. People should know better then to allow such pictures being taken of themselves whether its digital or a physical photo. Its common sense. If you dont want it public then don't do it regarding anything. If there is bullying and harassment then have the authorities take care of it, but if its a selfie you posted while in your underwear... well then too bad, you asked for it.
September 26, 201312 yr "social-media sites such as Facebook and Twitter require users to input personal information including pictures, which can leave them vulnerable to sexual harassment and even stalking by ill-intentioned users." Privacy settings? and who says you have to put a photo of yourself? No one is forcing you to post a picture of your face. Surely my favicon on this site isnt a picture of me.
September 26, 201312 yr lol, and whats with the photo in the image, a paid porn site? what does that have to do with online harassment? ... and who pays for porn anyways?
September 26, 201312 yr BS, don't bother on something you can't influence; manage something you can control. can we stop people loading personal info on social media ? no way ! I am more than happy if they make the Thai internet more a public service rather than a monopoly business revenge model.
