Best Area for Holiday Stay?

Featured Replies

A couple of younger friends from Ireland are visiting Bangkok in two weeks time and they want to know where to go/stay for a couple of nights, Nana and Soi Cowboy don’t appeal although they are keen to chase the ladies! Males aged around 32 who have adequate funds, both have been to Thailand many times before but no time spent in Bangkok – I suggested they base themselves either in Siam Square or on Sukhumvit, north of Asoke up to about Soi 40.

Any other recommendations for these guys?

Nana and Soi Cowboy don’t appeal although they are keen to chase the ladies!

Might be useful to know if this is pretty much the full extent of their interests and, if not, what else raises their pulse rate.

A couple of single lads who are well travelled with some money in their pockets and who work very hard for most of the year, it'll be shopping, relax next to the pool, a few decent restaurants and a fair amount of alcohol in the evning would be my guess in Bangkok before heading off to Singapore and Bali.

The LIT hotel is nice, friendly staff, great food and clean really pleasant rooms - high end 4* with great service. Close to MBK and 5 minutes walk to BTS station so dead easy for the nightlife. It's guest friendly too - no joiner fee or questions. My girl used to work on reception and I recommended a few friends stayed there and they all spoke highly of it.

Nice to hear - not here for the Ladyboys - who is !?

I would also like to know where I can go for reasonibly priced drinks (Better cheaper!)

I dont care about pretentiuos bars but a choice of chill and club music without the entry tax...

Where in BK can a get the ideal "village"

Thanks

Can't see what ladyboys have to do with the topic, or "villages" in Bangkok for that matter.

They could do a lot worse than staying in the Silom/Lumpini/Sathorn area. Good hotels for about 1k a night including buffet breakfast. One that springs to mind is the Chaydon Sathorn (ex All Seasons) on Sathorn Rd at the top of Saladaeng Soi 2. Handy for BTS and MRT with good bars nearby and of course Patpong.

Thong Lor (suk soi 55 area) would be what they're after... A bit less sleaze and a bit more reality...
