Just rented an older type condo which has large floor plan.. style is older wooden so don't want to IKEA it up...

Any idea where in BKK or close by that I can buy good solid wood furniture like tables/ bookcases/ display units.. not looking for the ornate rosewood Chinese style stuff ( hate that anyway) rather simple solid wood....

Normally this is sold in outdoor lots at various places around city but they do change as normally a low rent for car tent type facilities and truck loads brought in from upcountry to sell. Quality will vary. I have used the one on Latphao Road Soi 66 (as live in area) but likely there are others near you. Would ask taxi driver for open store that sells furniture from upcountry.

Chinatown has a street of furniture stores that do sell Thai rather than ornate Chinese items but most places will be combined solids with veneers these days.

The street that runs along in front of Klong Toei port has lots of wooden stuff being made from old shipping palettes, or you can try Ekamai for mid century and retro timber furniture.

Or try the 7 days a week Jatujak Plaza, a furniture section at the furthest side of Jatujak market on the north corner of the market. They have some pretty nice stuff by anyone's standards. All hand made, solid wood, variety of finishes and international, antique, and local styles.

Yup.

Directly across the street from JJ has new. Down the street a few blocks are stores with antiques. Some are even old.

Great post I never knew about this thing so it is quiet helpful really great one from your side,.....

a few out my way along Ramintra Road, you can also get solid wooden furniture from Winner Furniture.
