Sawadee Kah all you visa and immigration experts, I need your help on this one!

I am expecting my first child in October and Im planning on having it in Koh Samui. Right now I am on a 3 month non immigrant B visa, which I will renew in Penang in July, then in September I will go back and apply for an O visa. My husband is on a one year visa which he also will renew in January.

I am Canadian and Hubby is Scottish. Where do I register this kid and who do I have to talk to? What kind of visa will the baby need when s/he arrives?

Any info will be much appreciated, and if anyone has gone through a similar experience I would love to chat.. I'm feeling a bit fish out of water right now...

Cheers everyone!

First, congratulations!

Contact one or both of your embassies in Bangkok for information about applying for citizenship for your child. For example, if you want the child to have Canadian citizenship (why not, it's a fine country), you'll need your child's Thai birth certificate (and a certified translation), some photos, your original Canadian birth certificate, your original marriage certificate, passports for you and your husband and the application fee. Then you wait about 7 months for the folks in Ottawa to push around all the paper. All the info is on the Canadian Embassy website. They should be able to help you understand your child's immigration status in Thailand as well.
