BANGKOK: -- Government spokesman Teerat Ratanasevi insisted yesterday the government had nothing to do with the suspension of an interview recorded with environmentalist Sasin Chalermlarp about his campaign against the Mae Wong Dam that had been due to air last Saturday.

Teerat said the suspension was ordered by an MCOT censorship committee and the government had not intervened in the matter. MCOT President Anek Permvongseni should explain the suspension.

Late on Monday, after the discussion between MCOT executives and TV Burapa, the producer of the censored interview, there was an agreement that the interview would be aired on October 12.

Meanwhile, Teerat said Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra had assigned her deputy Plodprasop Suraswadi to explain details about Mae Wong Dam to the public.

The more he denies it the more it will be believed the government was involved.

He is correct that the MCOT President should explain why the show was suspended and the fact he hasn't could speak volumes. Just why is the government spokesman leading the charge when the government had nothing to do with the decision, supposedly ? !

Yay, go Thailand! Free speech and Democracy rules! "Thainess" is the one true way!

This sort of sensorship and muzzeling of free speech is not unique to Thailand. This mislabeling as "Thainess" is inaccurate and it should be called what it is. Such a label smacks of bigotry and sullies all of the good things that are unique to Thais.

You can call it whatever the hell you like, same as I can. Personally I'm going with sarcasm instead of bigotry, but up to you.
