BANGKOK, Oct 1 - Two more militant groups have proposed to hold talks with the Thai authorities on solutions to the unrest in Thailand's southern border provinces, National Security Council chief Paradorn Pattanatabut said today.

He would not disclose the identities of the two groups but said they were involved in several attacks and violence in the far South. He believed their participation would help improve the southern situation.

A Thai security delegation, led by Lt Gen Paradorn, has held three rounds of peace talks with militant group Barisan Revolusi Nasional (BRN) with Malaysia acting as facilitator.

Gen Paradorn said the fourth round of dialogues was tentatively scheduled for the third week of this month but the exact date has yet to be fixed.

He said the two militant groups had never contacted the Thai authorities and they would possibly be allowed to join the next peace talks which should help ease the southern tension.

"The two groups have reportedly been involved in several attacks in the South. It's good to talk to other groups besides the BRN. Talks must, however, be in accord with Thai law," he said.

Referring to the five demands submitted by the BRN, he said security-related Thai agencies and officials were studying their demands, insisting that Thailand must be careful in considering the BRN proposals and any decision made must not put the country at a disadvantage. (MCOT online news)

What about the rubber militants?

About time. Besides why they never talk about the retards, who finance the ongoing war in the south.

That's a good sign, just hope all parties can come to some sort of compromise . Fighting never solves the problems it creates them!
