Many renters in Thailand have experienced issues getting rental bonds/ deposits returned. A few folks who have experienced this have banded to gather to look at this situation and suggest possible alternatives like Rental Bond Board setups that exist in other countries. In some discussions with some relevant authorities we have been asked to document these issues and surrounding circumstances.

We have focused on persons who have had issues with rental bond/ deposit return mostly under the following circumstances

i) Rental contract direct with a foreign owned dwelling or
ii) Rental contract through predominately foreign managed real estate agent/ property manager
iii) Involved a confiscation or refusal to return bond either partially or in full.
As this has been a somewhat well patronised topic on TV for some time we will keep updating with progress on this issue

Good idea. Lots of luck implementing it, you know the barriers.

Thanks, surprisingly we are seeing pretty strong support from commercial attaché's at a few key embassies... hadn't realised until we started this that a few key embassies take very great interest and will act with zeal on issues like this.

Have had to be very specific with all of this however... don't want to start dealing with issues of someone left their favourite coffee cup and cant get it back.

Was recently done in losing my deposit over very minor issues when returning my condo. So yeah.. if it could be implemented it would be great.
