There was a recent thread on this. The following are recommendations made by various respondents. Bumrungrad and Bangkojk Hospital are private hospitals of international standard with English spoken, probably more convenient for you than Chulalonghorn which is a government Hospital.

“ Dr Mattana Hanavich at Bumrungrad - is what I consider to be one of the most knowledgable and compassionate doctors I have ever met. She works 5-8pm Monday - Friday. She looks after a friend of mine whos treatment I pay for. Outstanding knowledge - she is an infectious diseases specialist teacher at Chula Medical School specialising in HIV. Very good at building up relationships with her patients and very thorough. She has an amazing ability to make her patients feel that they are in good care. Beware though she spends way too long with each patient - well over the official time of the appointment so she is always running late - if you are the last patient of the day, odds are you wont see her until 10pm at night however none of her patients complain - she is worth waiting for. When I have accompanied my friend there, I have seen many same sex couples come out of her surgery - so I would assume she is also very open minded. I cannot rate this doctor highly enough. She also attends many overseas conferences and is very well versed on up to minute treatment options.”

“Another good doctor in Bumrungrad is Dr Mondej Sookpranee. He has been treating me for the past 2 years, and I find him truly excellent.”

“Also good is Dr. Asda Vibhagool, at Bumrungrad

“Dr Paitoon Boonma in Bangkok General Hospital

I ve seen him for 8 years now.

He is very knowledgeable and kind."

Costs for consultation with a doctor are quite reasonable. Drug costs are lower than in the West -- much lowerr if you rae on fiorst-line therapy.
