I hope someone has some experiance with an old router from true - well not that old says built 01/12. I reset the box and it dumped the made up wifi ssid that was there and came up default ssid - someone has been in config before. I assume it would also put me back at the default user and password not knowing what it might be changed to - wanted to start fresh.

Now I see the SSID true homewifi 09555 and asks for key if I try to connect but that is not import yet as I want to config first anyway. I have a standalone PC and eth/cable plugged into port1 but can't find a log in or working gateway address.

I have looked on the internet and tried 40 differant gateways to get to the sign-in for some configuration and nothing but timeouts. Try both Firefox and IE in case the old activeX stuff was being used.

I had hoped to not use the true cable connection to it and just run a cable to the port1 from downstairs and extent the current working (new) true modem to the upper floors so it needs config i.e. gateway, ssid, key for wifi. - It seems to have some kind of rare set-up.

This is for a brother inlaw accross town - I only wish we had true cable. At least I have a download site to go to now. The older modem was already in the house unused and true left it said they don't use them anymore - so we will try to put it to some use. If all else fails I have a switch to distribute wire upstairs but the wifi would be nice on the third level deck.

Thanks

Solved - I was fixed IP on the PC so didn't see right gateway or detect. Went to dhcp and it spit back the gateway number in cmd /k ipconfig /all rather then parrot the fixed info from the nic.

I was just typing this when the answer stated coming TRhanks
