The astrologers and soothsayers say that we are nearing a story on Thai shrimp and hat business is booming and the water is clear of all oil deposits from the PTT spill. The oil spill and clean up just died out of the Thai news and astrology news is more pressing.

Nevertheless, Mr. Prompong Nopparit, the spokesman of the ruling Pheu Thai Party, said the apocalyptic prediction of 8 October is "unscientific". "There has been many such prophecies which turned out to be false, such as the Doomsday prediction few years ago," Mr. Prompong said.

He said in a press conference that the leadership and the members of the party are not daunted by the prediction, and added that the party has no plan to conduct any ceremony to ward off the prophesied disaster.

Common sense from PTP. Don't the Democrats realise how stupid they sound?

There was a big ceremony in Chiang Mai 2 days ago led by a prominent abbot to halp ward off bad luck for Yingluck. The northern monks often preside over rites to assist the Shinawat clan.

Boy, when a fiery chasm opens beneath parliament house, and the four buffalo riders of the Thai Apocalypse, otherwise known as Flood, Pestilent rice, Vote buying and Fleeing from justice, come forth in satanic splendour, will some people here have egg on their faces! In fact, forget the fiery chasm, the riders are here already.

If the egg on their faces makes their skin whiter, then they'll think; 'great!'

Four buffalos? Doubtful. Buffaloes are too smart to go charging in to a fiery chasm. More likely they'll be riding four 15 year old Honda Dreams, all burping and coughing smoke (the bikes and the riders).

Sorry Boo boo..... Parliment meets in Bkk so they cannot be in 15 year old cars..... Police will now be saying no cars in Bkk older than 10 yrs old

Must be true.... I read it in the newspaper just this morning.

Agree - we've had so many of these doomsday prophecies since the new milenium, and we're all still here.

Good to see some common sense from any politician.

But,wait. Didn't PTP's esteemed thinker, post worries about this prediction on his fb account? Guess he's not one for common sense then.

Not really fortune telling to say there will be violence at any time of the year here as it never seems to stop.....if the government handles floods in Bangkok the same this time as it did 2 years ago, they are in for a whole heap of trouble. People who were purposely flooded last time still haven't received the promised money for repairs and if those MP's try to purposely flood them again to save somewhere else you can bet your ass someone is going to die....

Don't worry all you Thai Visa posters. Having predicted the apocalypse, he is now saying that every member of the Government and PTP, along with their attendant red shirts should gather on top of Doi Inthanon on 10 December (Human Rights Day); where a white bearded man will descend from the clouds and give them a lecture on Democracy, truth and honesty. After this happening the people of Thailand can look forward to the abolition of corruption, proper teaching within the education system, sensible traffic laws, a police force that no longer believes that it owns the law (rather than enforce it), a full confession from the Sociopath of Montenegro, driver training and discipline with a consequent massive reduction in road deaths and an end to the rice scams. Indeed, they may even treat expats as people, rather than something the dog brought in!

nice try.......almost as realistic as the main story..but points for the ammusing effort young ianf.l applaud your fine sence of humour..clap2.gif

Mr. Prompong Nopparit, the spokesman of the ruling Pheu Thai Party, said the apocalyptic prediction of 8 October is "unscientific". About the only sensible thing he's said in ages, but Thaksin fell for it and commented on FB about it.

A pic there of two deeply despised leaders, who can claim 'people's mandate' but are wholly unsuitable for a variety of reasons.

Fair suck of the sauce bottle mate. Abbott hasn't even warmed the seat of power yet, so describing him as a "deeply despised" leader is rather over the top. And like it or not, Australia has a pretty stable, long running democracy and the people really didn't want K.Rudd or his predecessor (who indeed managed to become even more unpopular than Keating did in his day - quite an achievement that).

As for Yingluck, well she is just a sock puppet worthy of nothing but contempt for just that.

"The Saturn is approaching Rahu in the Tula zodiac, which is aimed at Mesa zodiac," Mr. Boonlert said, "This portends a great chaos in Bangkok".

Of course it is. Thank goodness for amulets.

Hmm .. I know someone who has an impressive collection of crucifixes. I think it would be illogical and exceedingly unfair to claim (or imply) that she is a nutter for collecting these objects, or in fact to infer she is even a Christian.

Who gives a FF if the Former Thai PM collects fortune cookies, amulets or pictures of Che Guevara? It is irrelevant.

I have noticed a lot of people are blind to their own illogical fallacies - most caused by their irrational hatred of something or other. Sad that there are so many to be seen around TV.

Australians have a habit of votiing for dreadful Liberal leaders out of spite for labour not out of love for their country.

Usually it is an act of desperation to escape from the dross Labor clowns that they inadvertently voted in after a long period of boredom with competent but astoundingly dull Liberal politicos.
