PEFOT 'Temporarily' Retreats To Lumpini Park

BANGKOK: -- After several negotiations, the anti-government protesters have agreed to relocate their protests back to Lumpini Park during the visit of Chinese Premier to Government House, where the protesters had been camping.

The People′s Force of Democracy to Overthrow Thaksinism (PEFOT) vowed to return to resume their calls for the resignation of Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra after Mr. Li Keqiang had concluded his official visit to Thailand, scheduled to take place from 11-13 October.

Government officials have proposed to the PEFOT protesters that they clear the ground for the upcoming visit of Mr. Li. The protest leaders had rejected the proposals in previous negotiations, including one organised today at the protest site.

But around 14.00 today Gen. Preecha Eiamsupan, a leader of PEFOT, took to the rally stage in front of Government House and urged his fellow protesters - around 300 of them - to return to Lumpini Park, where they had been occupying for two months.

Some protesters booed and shouted their disagreement. Around 100 protesters stood their ground at the stage while others packed their tents and equipments, but those defiant protesters were eventually persuaded to withdraw as well by PEFOT leaders.

The short-lived protests at Government House, which had started as an ambitious attempt to bring about the collapse to the government of Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra, have been peaceful, despite several arguments between the protesters and the police officers who had sealed off the areas around the protest site.

Operating under the authority of Internal Security Act, thousands of officers have occupied governmental offices to deter the protesters from entering those buildings, and have blocked traffic in the vicinity to bar new protesters.

Upon the PEFOT′s announcement that it will withdraw to Lumpini Park, the officers lifted the barricades from the roads and allow traffic to resume. Some public buses were also provided to the protesters who wished to return to Lumpini Park.

Protesters disperse from Government House
The Nation

BANGKOK: -- The People's Army against the Thaksin Regime agreed Thursday to disperse from outside the Government House to continue its rally inside the Lumpini Park.

Gen Preecha Iamsuwan, a leader of the group, announced the decision to move back to the Lumpini Park at 1:30 pm after he held a talk with Deputy Police Commissioner-General Pol Gen Worapong Chiewpreecha and Metropolitan Police chief Pol Lt Gen Khamronwit Thupkrachang for about half an hour.

Preecha said he decided to disperse from the Government House to save the face the country because the Chinese prime minister will visit the Government House Friday.

Following the talk, police allocated 15 buses to transport the protesters to the Lumpini Park.

PEFOT=Poor low educated people's with the deep sikness of jealousness!!!!

It is plain to see that his or her view on democracy is based on thaksinspeak and also a sight unseen and a physical and mental examination to be able to make personal judgement on the I.Q. level, social status and emotional state of people he or she has never ever met or is ever likely too.

Surely not a person who advocates democracy based on ones wealth, status and emotional state so as to be able to classify someones position in society?

Bigotry is the word that springs to mind

Majority is more wealthy educated middle class Chinese. But of course some poor low educated see that they are abused by the Shinawatra clan and join.

Over all mostly elderly people as the young one are busy with their mobile phones and the middle aged must work.

They have a problem. There are just not very many of them. Bangkokians remember the large yellow shirt demos of before and these are pathetically small compared to some of those. And that is without even talking about some of the very big Red demos. This mob just send the message that they have no support. It doesn't help that the various yellow side groups are now openly feuding as well. Throw in all the drivers sick of them...

That must surely include all of the Red Shirt factions and their leadership too?

Surely you are not advocating the destruction of your idols opponent are you? Seems as if you too are also adopting the thaksinspeak approach to democracy.

On the day a few hundreds. On the evening claimed 5000 (but it could be half). The large Yellow demonstrations were huge and when they took parliament it was reported over 550.000.

So if we decide to believe the 5000, it is less than 1% of their peak.

Even if they can double themself, I can't see any possible way to win that.

If they can trick the government into a violent crackdown in the hope that the army will step in, than it won't happen. If they want the court to do something it won't happen.

Both are already in control of the Shin Dynasty.

Even supporter won't come if they can't offer a plan.

Quite an interesting point, h90. Are you really saying that that the yellow shirts have been taken over by the Chinese?

Of course, I do realise that a lot of the old established Chinese business and political dynasties who felt that they owned Thailand were sorely upset when they were sidestepped by Thaksin. Not surprising that they will stoop to any level to get their snouts back in the trough.

middle class Thais with Chinese heritage....

I don't think that the super rich Chinese dynasties are there...I doubt that the grandma from CP and Bangkok Bank are demonstrating there. These families are already in bed with Thaksin. They are well known to sponsor every party, just in case, so probably they also give some crumbs for them, just in case.

But many small shop owner are against Thaksin and many of them are Chinese ethnic (or half or quarter), and it is mostly downtown people which are mostly Chinese ethnic.

So I doubt it is a Chinese conspiraton. I got told also a lot people came from the South...They aren't Chinese.

One strong supporting music band "Hammer" is half Pakistani (I got told).

So it is a wide mix, but with more old Chinese than in the general population (from the visual appearance)

Surayut

Abhisit

Chuan
