October 10, 201312 yr Seen Thais do this a few times so thought I'd have a go. Just wanted to check re the pvc waste pipe that comes up from the floor, should it end flush with the floor surface or extend a little above it ? I'm installing the toilet the Thai way using that white powder stuff.
October 11, 201312 yr Look at the rubber flange that comes with the toilet and see how close it's going to get to the floor, and also whether the bend in it sits at floor level or above it. I most cases it sits maybe 1" off the floor, so you leave a little of the PVC poking up. Edit: Actually, in most cases you don't cut it until you're actually fitting the the toilet Edited October 11, 201312 yr by IMHO
October 11, 201312 yr I cut mine flush with the floor and used a toilet mounting plate that screws to the floor and has brass bolts to hold the toilet down. It makes it easy to remove at a later date if you need to. The kit comes with a wax gasket. I bought mine at Home Pro years ago. I sealed around the bottom of the toilet with white silicone sealant. Why are you using the "white powder stuff"?
October 11, 201312 yr Author The white powder is white cement AFAIK. Think I'll be using a gasket now and bolting it down - seems easy enough to go. Thanks.
