i just bought a long tail boat and want to build a cheap lean to structure. i built a lot of structures in australia always with second hand timber and building materials... wondering if anyone has an idea where i can source 30m2 of roofing iron and some rafters/beams/joists...

but i am also interested in othere second hand building materials in genaral for a future house i want to build...

as i don't have the tools i will need to hire a builder... also happy for some feetback some one might have recommendations.

i suppose i should have the project quoted rather than pay by hour...as TIT, 555

and if all fails i will have to buy new...where? i live in Nonthaburi, bang kruai

My neighbour, in Australia knocked on my door last week, he had a flatbed full or 100 year hardwood studs and a few beams that he was taking to the dump and knowing that I had a fire place offered me some to chop up.

What a waste to use as firewood ... more of a waste to dump it!

Now, to your issue, if you know a charcoal maker, you might sniff round their wood pile and they pay next to nothing for it (and, in turn, offer little) or find out their source.

Alternatively, you might find it really cheap to build new. Have a look at carport-do-it-yourself-and-cheap ... you'd surprised what you can build on the cheap.

We priced 2nd hand roof tiles and the difference between reasonable 2nd hand tiles and new was maybe 30% difference ... not worth it.

Good Luck.

Come back and show us what you built and what it cost you.
