Thieves on coaches

Featured Replies

If anybody is soon to travel on the coach service from Suri Thani bus depot to Dansak port do not leave any money or valubles in your bag or suit case I recently used the service and had £380 stolen out of my suit case (about 19000 baht).

They have thieves under the coach where the luggage is stored going through passengers luggage

Why would anyone in their right mind put that kind of money in a suitcase - unbelievable stupidity!

If you must carry that kind of cash, which is not good anyway, keep it on your person.

I think the key phrase is 'in their right mind' ....

Yes - cash is light and easy to have on ya agreed! Meanwhile the OP also mentioned other valuables that could be in the bag - and one could easily throw in the android TV player, the MP3 player, extra mobile charging battery, some SD cards, the diving watch and the back up sunglasses, and be out much more than the above amount - so I hereby thank the OP for his post - it will help me remember to pack a "cabin bag" for my next bus trip - and leave the thief to go through some sweaty football gear, my muay Thai groin guards and some underwear that might try to fight back! :)

Cheers!

That's what bum bags are for,, They might make you look GAY,, but at least you money is with you at all time,,, Nice and safe biggrin.png

put the money in the front pocket of your trouser....not looking gay and save. Pocket picking from the front pocket is difficult.

usually I have a laptop bag with most important things beside money.

I see this is still going on nearly ten years after a similar theft happened to me.....luckily mine were travellers cheques and I got the money returned.

Apparently really prevalent in the Bangkok - Chiang Mai Run.

They had this on some program the other day. Wasn't in Thailand but imagine happens everywhere.

Coach drivers assistant stole 15,000 baht of our takings . Stupid fool seemingly didn't know about the cctv and that the police have been sponsored for decades.

Just put a scorpion in your bag next to the money. And lace the notes with acid.

putting acid on the notes might be not the best idea.

But maybe a mouse trap?

Don't know about the acid, a hallucinating little Thai lad might not be the best thing for passenger safety, however.... Heavy duty, spring loaded rat traps.

And don't forget before you open the case yourself, laugh.png

Ever heard of a money belt? 19,000 baht is not a large bundle of cash.

Why even carry that much on you? I use a pre paid tam card and only carry on my 5-10k most any any 1 time.

Lesson learned I suppose. I've head of similar incidents on some buses that leave KSR in Bangkok.
