Visa and Re Entry permit in old passport

Featured Replies

Hello there,

I have a non B visa from Penang and a single Re entry permit in my passport. However this passport was pretty full so I opted to get a new passport from England. I checked with the Thai Immigration office and they told me that it should be fine to re enter Thailand just bring both passports with me. The one with the visas and re entry has been cut at the corners so is therefore 'not a valid passport'. To double check I asked the Thai consulate in England and she was worried that the permit will not be accepted and that I would also have to get the visa transferred to my new passport; because these things are in a 'non valid' passport. The visa can only be transferred from the office that issued it also.

I was just wondering if anyone has had any experience of this or something similar?

The visa and re-entry permit remain valid even if the passport is not .

Just present both passports.

A visa I never transferred and procedure is as immigration told you.

The corners of the visa/permission to stay/re-entry permit pages should not have been cut, indicating that the passport is invalid but visas etc are still valid.
