Gift For A Thai Lady From Europe

Featured Replies

I would like to make a gift to a Thai girl. Something that I could send or give her in person when visiting next.

The obvious and, probably best, option is of course some thai gold jewellery, but I was wondering if there was something from Europe that a Thai girl would appreciate. For this I would like some suggestions.

If you really care for her and it isn't about the money then I wouldn't bother about the Thai gold jewelry as that is something she can easily get at home. Some little luxury from Europe would be better, a nice perfume or something unique yet interesting and lovely from your own hometown would send a more thoughtful message.

I agree with sbk, IMO gold is such a cliche (sorry guys!) a nice scarf, handbag, bottle of perfume etc show more thought & is something different. If your relationship progresses to something more serious then gold will be the next step :o

Title deeds to a castle..... :o

in my experience, i find that they all LOVE face creams and body lotions from the west. thais are under the impression that anything from the west is much better than products from here.

some good smelling lotions and luxury goods always go down very well.

A thai girlfiend told me you SHOULD NEVER give a thai girl perfume because thai girl believes that the relationship will be over.

Why? THai logic: because perfume smells too good and just from a survey, 50% of thai women feel the relationship is doomed.

I am talking to this girl right now and I still cannot figure out the logic. But basically it is a Partial Thai belief.

I don't know, I've only ever given perfume to my female friends, they love it. Never asked them how they would feel if they got it from a man.

:o My darling just gave me perfume bought on his visa run, I was ecstatic. Now I'm wondering if the relationship is doomed...We are both farang so maybe it doesn't count :D

Seriously though, sometimes I think it's good to get a few small gifts rather than one 'big' present. It's a little less pressure, especially if it's early in a relationship. Something unique to your hometown and something luxurious, scented lotion or whatever as has been suggested already would be appreciated I'm sure.

Luxury smallgoods are always a winner with Thai women.

Got to agree on the luxury small goods. Quality cosmetics from the West are more expensive in Thailand. Every Thai woman I know has mentioned this to me.

Most women are particular about their face creams and cosmetics. Why don't you ask her if there is a brand or item she would like since it is easier for you to pick up in the West?

Hate to disagree but ..... okay well maybe Thai women...... I have been using a huge variety of face scrubs and washes - all bought in 7-11 - for years and no problem!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Same stuff, washes dirt and make up off.

I have to say that there are no claims that a wash cream from some expensive French company is any better than Ponds 40 baht from 7/11

My skin is even better now that i stopped playing with silly expensive brands.

Yeah, I tried a couple of 7-11 cleansers. I've tried everything from the most expensive to the cheapest. I prefer to use cleansers by Kiehls, a product that is not yet available in Thailand. It's good value for the money, btw, with a 3,000 baht purchase of cleanser, moisturizer, and scrub lasting about 1-1/2 years. If you divide that by the days used, morning and night, that's really not bad for quality products. At any rate, I'm a sucker and a discriminating customer when it comes to skin care products. I've tried them all and am considering starting my own business.

But I hear what you're saying, Seonai. I envy you if you can get away with cheap, 7-11 products. My skin knows the difference. Although lately, I am really keen on Thai natural products, such as tumeric soap, lotion, and body scrubs, tamarind cleaner, and avocado moisturizer. All about 100 baht each, and all brilliant! I'm looking for a good, all natural Thai moisturizer besides the avocado one, though (one that doesn't have whiteners).

But I know that many Thai women like luxury foreign brands, because they are a luxury here. I wouldn't mind some of the luxury products I tested recently, but they are waaaay to expensive here.
