Remembrance 2013

We are fast approaching the time we in the Royal British Legion call Remembrancetide, the time in the UK when you would see Poppy Sellers on street corners and outside shops. We cant do that here in Thailand but you will find Poppy Boxes in many of your favourite Bars and Restaurants, please donate and wear your Poppy with pride, we also have a Poppy Golf Tournament being held in Pattaya on Friday 8 November.

The Remembrance Sunday service this year will once again be held at the British Embassy commencing at 10.50am Sunday 10 November, to register for the Service and obtain more details please contact [email protected] . We will also be holding a service at Kanchanaburi War Graves (River Kwai) on Monday 11 November again at 10.50am, there will be a number of former Veterans who were POWs travelling from the UK for this service. This is an open service and you are more than welcome to join us and show your respect should you be in the area, why not make a Long Weekend of it and join us there, our Thailand Riders will also be there leaving Pattaya on Sunday 10 November.

Thank you for the info, Bert. I will certainly be at the embassy on the Sunday and may make it upto Kanchanaburi.

I also hope to attend this year. I have been told that I could wear my late Father's medals, but I'm not sure if that is acceptable. It would be nice to wear them in his honour - he died in the Arnhem landings aged 23.

Here is the steer from the British Legion on that - it would seem to be acceptable with certain conditions

Yes you can wear them, do so with pride. Right side chest.
