Fenugreek and other Indian and Mexican spices

Featured Replies

Hello,

I am interested in Indian spices especially fenugreek (leaf and seed). Also mexican esp other sorts of chilli.

On the forum I see people being directed to BKK (although the posts are old). Living in hope. Does anybody buy this sort of stuff in Udon Thani or Kon Kaen ? Thanks. P.

Macro has a good selection of stuff in Udon.

Hi. If you go to Makro in Khon Kaen they have a huge selection of spices between the fish and meat sections at the top end of the store. I get all I need there.

I am from New Zealand where the best Lamb comes from, Makro have shoulders and legs frozen for around 260baht kilo, it is cheaper than in NZ and it is Fab. the frozen packs of English bacon is so Cheap, 300baht kg.

While in Canada I venture to North Surrey where the area has changed into a small India, if you can be amazed at spices that are not available in traditional North American stores..suppose any city does have a small India inclave, while shopping I feel that I am not in Canada as eyes question my presents, whistling.gif most do not speak english..thou the smell of these exotic spices entice me to start to make my bounty of these to take back to Thailand.

Another idea apart from spices are the purchase of Nutra-ceutical (natural componds found in nature and food)...one can order large qualities as I do and bring with me..these products are so expensive here.

Spice up you meals as I cook my own meals...the local Thai spices are great also, I do take some of these home to share with friends as the price in Cdn is nearly double..well enough of spices, the spice of the female nature is much cheaper here.. take care and too many chief spoil the Soup!facepalm.gif

Thanks to all the posters. My mouth is watering in anticipation !

@shaurene thanks for the extra tip off on lamb. My great grandfather was an English shepard so my dad grew up on lamb. This tradition he carried on but NZ lamb was much cheaper and damn good so I have downed a good few shoulders from your neck of the woods :-)
