Popular Post Hedghog Posted October 23, 2013 Popular Post Share Posted October 23, 2013 The house I rent comes with about 1 rai of garden. Including a large mango tree and a kafir lime tree. Since moving in I have slowly added up to twenty banana palms,soon to be thirty. Three types of melon,plus beans,peas,cucumber and loofahs. After having so much produce,that I couldn't eat,I started selling my produce through my landlady. As I only use organic fertilizer (buffalo muck) and pest control is organic,plus my landlady is obviously a good sales person. The sales are out stripping production,the money won't make me rich by any means,but it is a pleasant feeling selling the excess and making a few Baht. I had a small garden on a rented house, with a few fruit trees. It was really nice to be able to pick them directly (no work permit ). When the fruit was more than what I would eat, I gave some away to friends an neighbors. One of the neighbors had a stall in a market and sold some, gave me some food in exchange (never money). I don't think this is within the realms of even the greediest dirty baht chasing cop. it is just a pleasant social way to deal with the people around you. Cheap produce is available,when in season. The locals are quite interested in the diversity of crop. All round win win. Immigration are not a concern. I can't get my next lot until next month,as it is dried before it is sold. The locals are catching on fast,about the benefits of good manure. Give also to the local temple....and show your self doing that in Buddha days.. Can be useful to have the temple support in case of problems with immigration...or a anybody in the village.
