What a pleasant change to read this article. Fair play to you sir for reaping benefits from working on the land. Work permits, who needs them.

I'm really pleased that the locals haven't just walked in and helped themselves.

Come on now GBK.

Get off the keyboard and in the garden.

I believe you are Pattaya resident.

There must be a garden centre supplier type place.

Buy some potting compost, seed trays and some seeds.

That will get you started.

The clay soil isn't a problem.

Loosen the top couple of inches of soil, before planting seedlings, they will do the rest.

Nowadays you can buy, organic type fertilizer,in liquid form,to help you along.

When transplanting seedlings administer,a vitamin B compound, this reduces shock, and encourage root growth.

Also plant flowers, they encourage butterflies, for pollination, plus they are beautiful to see.

Particularly geranium as they also discourage pests.

Start simple, then go as your fancy takes you.

Don't run before you can walk.

Buy a few packs of seeds, from the shop to start, flowers, pumpkin are good starters.

Once you get a result, that will encourage you.

You don't want to start and everything fails.

Pumpkin,cucumber,geraniums xinia,have a 90% success rate in germination,which will generate enthusiasm

then you can move forward.

Also Google is your friend.

Check before planting.

Thailand's climate is great for so many growing opportunities.

Don't want to do flowers, as we are lucky enough to have plenty in the garden already.

Clay not a problem, but I doubt it will make for the strength of garlic I know from southern England, but I'll still give it a go.

Very keen on pumpkin, coriander, chillies, garlic, spring onions, red onions and all that good stuff that we eat every day. Never really considered cues, but why not indeed? Long beans?

The wife just bought 20 kilos of cow poo, so we are ready to go with the first attempts. Need a trowel...

Can you recommend a seed shop? I imagine they would have the trays, etc., as well, right?

so why advertise on a public forum that you are farming (on the no no list of things you cant do in Thailand) and making money

let me know when you need a good lawyer

Not farming.

Gardening,

I have a proxy vendor.

The lawyer you have in mind wouldn't take the case.

I have legal representation thank you.

If you want to advertise youre lawyers services place them in the classifieds.

Thank you.

Do you put nets over the seed trays to stop the birds pinching the seedlings?

Never had a problem with birds.

But shelter from heavy rain.

The main pest I have is a a small airborne orange beetle.

But I spray seedlings with a home made concoction that works pretty well.

I will pm you tomorrow if thats agreeable.

your lawyer should tell you then how wrong you are and you risk being thrown out of the country and banned for up to 10 years

there is no fine line or grey areas in what you are doing

you are growing produce to sell

this is a point of law that you should be aware of

if you dont plan on staying in Thailand then fine

carry on gardening

BTW I do not pratice law as I dont have a work permit and also because its on the no no list

good luck

dont know the answer to 3 as I havent got a clue what you are referring to

your business is gardening?

good for you owning a business and no doubt you then have a WP

Do I what ? have a WP or work in the garden or have a business in Thailand?

the answer is no no no

but I do own a bar in Pattaya but I dont work there I just serve drinks to my friends - its more like a club where we share info over a drink or 2

Like I said my business is my business.

But I don't own a bar in Pattaya.

I don't own a gardening business either, although it is feasible.

Are you jealous,my garden turnover is greater than your bar?

Which it probably is.

You need to check your understanding of labour law.

"I just serve drinks to my friends"

Pound to a pinch of pig poo that the labour office would be down on you like a ton of bricks before they bothered a bloke in his own garden.

Good on you, lucky man!

Every edible thing I grow, is taken ( stolen?) by my neighbors and relatives, usually just before it is ripe!

How do you do it?

Guard dogs?

Electric fences?

Good on you!

I am more than just a little jealous!

Good neighbours I suppose.

Although my landlady, has first choice on the mangoes.

Her tree,so thats fair enough.

Haha. Same here. I stocked 2 dams with 2000 fish, within two days, because I wasn't using the fish. , my lovely neighbors were trying to net them until bil caught them. Now it's a 45 cal they need to watch for as he practices once a week on the land to ensure they hear it. Lol.
