I read that the latest ''supertough'' cop who was going to clean up Patong etc, has come up with a brilliant plan to reduce to traffic flow problems in Patong.

His brilliant plan is to install parking meters [to reduce the number of vehicals blocking the roads]!!!

Yeh, that;ll work...NOT!! Paying to park will alleviate the traffic jams!!??...where the hell do these people get these flashes on inspiration from? excess of whisky intake or what?

He also made mention that the people who he is trying to sort out ;read mafia controlled groups are "tough people" and though he's normally used to getting things done his way, because of these tough people he now has to take a more cautious approach....clap2.gif

Next please...coffee1.gif

Just another income stream really. Genius in that context.

Enforcement / Collection will be interesting though.

Trying to find a parking inspector willing or brave enough to fine or wheel clamp the tuk tuks would be an exercise in futility

Yes , but you are missing the point..how can having parking meters in any way at all reduce the traffic problems?

EDIT;he actually said;"parking meters could even be an idea worth considering to reduce the number of vehicles choking the streets "

Any takers to answer this one?

There is absolutely no connection between the two...w00t.gif

Parking meters will not stop the tuk tuks etc parking all day as usual also, if this is part of his plan..they will just feed the meters, and as is the case as the front tuk tuk gets a customer victim they all push forward to the next spot /meter space as they do now.

So any one tuk tuk cannot be accused of overstaying the time limit [if there is one imposed]

"how can having parking meters in any way at all reduce the traffic problems?" - did you forget that you are living on Phuket?

Make parking 300 baht an hour and you have fixed the traffic, and parking problems, instantly. :)

Most will have to walk everywhere, because they can't afford to park.

It's simple Thai logic, and also turns a nice baht. :) :)

someone will be printing up and selling stickers making them exempt

how pays when you double park?????
