I have recently bought a used car from a dealer. All the paperwork has been processed and I have now received the Blue Book. However I now notice that in the Blue book my middle name has an extra letter in it thus giving it a wrong spelling. I can trace the mistake back to the immigration office. I handed them my passport for a "letter of residency" and they copied my name and typed my middle name in with the extra letter. A "typo". I did not notice this and the error has carried right through onto my Blue Book.

Do I need to get this corrected? If so how do I go about doing it?

typos, wrong spellings in any official documents are very common.

Keep the old letter of residency to proof whenever necessary where the typo started. Together with a new one stating the same passport number you won't have any problems later on.

or if you feel better

take the old letter o. r. together with a new one ( without typos ), your passport and your blue book and go to the vehicle registration office to correct it.

They probably just do a handwritten correction with small official stamp next to it and let you go.

I wouldn't worry to much. They once made me a Norwegian ( I am german ! ) in a letter of residency and the bike dealer used it for a ownership transfer. Sold the bike later without any problem.
