Yes I've been there, just a posh market, good choice of restaurant options. Being on the river gives it fresh appeal, well laid out and style worthy of checking out.

I was there Friday night. Saw the Calypso show. Wouldn't go to the show again, but I might go back for the restaurants.

Makes me miss Suan Lum.

Lady boy cabaret.

I like it. Its nice to be riverside.

It's basically just another shopping mall, but with the lack of public spaces in bkk.. beggars cant be choosers. Some nice Chinese food there too.

Its pleasant and spacious....but the restaurants are pricey in my opinion.

I think Asiatique is a good place to visit but forget about the show (if you had experience once), agreed with whybrother and smokie36, i like the atmostphere and their restaurants too, just to relax and enjoy the open space after some tours in the city.

Travelling to this area is a bitch especially if you're from the areas like ratchada even sukhumvit but the best hotels like lebua, shangri-la etc are all located along the chao priya river just like this place. It's a good place to take in the sights and sounds cos of the prime location but damn travelling to downtown bkk from that place is tough. Traffic was rough on that day and i didn't want to take the bts.

They have a free shuttle boat from Saphan Taksin, so it makes it quite easy to get there.

Agree with whybother... its very easy if you just take the BTS. 30 minutes to Saphan Taskin, then just enjoy the river while waiting for the free shuttle boat. Travelling by car... you'd have to be a real masochist, especially driving at the time of day Asiatique is open at.

Yeah, I went by car once. Stupid mistake. Probably would have been quicker walking...

The BTS and the boat is nice and easy.

I actually didn't know about the ferry until the last minute when i took the last one from that place to the bts you can see that in my 1st post. For me since i am a tourist and not a resident in thailand after taking an mrt and a bts i expect to be at my destination and not having to take something else.

PS the ferry was quite an eye opener.

Have had dinner there once at night. Was quite nice actually being by the river side ect.. Would like to go again.

Capri has got a quite decent pizza, wood fired oven and sometimes the pizzaioli perform a little show while baking.

Edited by I knew this would happen

I've seen the ferry looking dangerously overloaded, decided against it.

Ladyboys are hot...they're the new ladygirls.

Pleasant indeed to be by water in Bangkok. Currently badly signposted with parking difficult during evening peaktime.

Does anybody know if they charge foreigners a higher price than Thais on their Ferris Wheel, I know they did at first then, after a bit of an outcry, charged everyone the same, but I've heard they gave gone back to double charging.

Anyone know for sure?

No. They don't.

Yes they do. an extra 50 bht for foreigners. It wasn't shown on the sign though but i was with 2 thai female frens and she told me it was 200 bht for her and her sister but wanted me to pay for them which i didn't but i trust she is correct.

Possibly. The sign says 250 per person, but they charged us 450 for the two. I was thinking it was just a two person special or something.
