From Surathani airport airport to Samiu

Featured Replies

I'll need to get to Samiu from Surathani airport, but not by plane. I heard there was a ferry going from Surathani to Samiu. In case there is, would it be the best way (and could you please give me a link about it)?

If not, what are the options? I figure, the only option is a bus going to Don Sak.

There is a kiosk in the airport where you can buy a bus ticket and ferry ticket for 350 baht. Once you buy your ticket, you go outside and get on to a coach and wait for it to fill up, then an hour later you will arrive at Donsak and board the Raja ferry which takes you to Taling Gnam . This ferry takes 1.5 hours and leaves on the hour every hour.

You may be offered a bus and ferry ticket on the plane for 350 baht. However this is for the Seatran ferry which goes to Nathon.

Easy, just get the bus from airport and then ferry.... price will include both. Just say Samui... cheap.

Buses / or mini vans usually sitting outside the airport door ....

Just to add to Amusements suggestion ... There are other options... Lomprayah ferry and Songserm ferries too..both to Nathon, .... . actually faster (no vehicles) ... But you need to just ask, because usually someone will direct you to "their friend's company"....

Prices are all about the same.

Thaling Gnam is a few Kms south of Nathon... not really a big deal... Taxi's or Songtaus waiting at each arrival to get you where you want to go!

There is a ferry near Surathami itself, isn't there? Why not use it instead of going to Don Saak?

No there isn't. Exactly where did you get the notion that there is a ferry near Suratthani?

The only ferries are departing from Don Sak, which is more or less the closest point between the mainland and Samui.

Surratthani Town center isn't at the coast, but there are ports which is closer to Surat town center than Don Sak, but there's only overnight passenger boats to the islands.

What has been posted previously are about spot on, nothing more to add.

If there was a more convenient way, then surely it would have been suggested already.

The boat (not ferry) from Suratthani leaves 11 PM and arrives in Samui 6.00 AM.

Seven hour night trip.

Never heard of a night boat to Samui, B4, not trying to say there is not...

I know there is one to KP and anyone I have meet who has used it, regretted trying to save a few baht and arriving at that time of day after a sleepless night!!!!! ... the bus ride is not that much of a big deal! wink.png

Does this mean that the passenger ferry from Suratthani to Samui has now stopped? Sometimes called the fast ferry. (2.5 hours from Suratthani - took me a while to get my head around that one!)

I thought that I saw the fast ferry at the pier in Nathon when I was last there! (I am not talking about the overnight one either.)

or for more options - this one

I cannot pesonally confirm that these boats are still running but a phone call will tell you.

Songserm and Lomprayah are the two fastest ferries .... I took Songserm last trip, both take about 45 minutes... depending on sea conditions...wink.png

The port in Donsak is a few kms up the channel, from where Seatran and Raja Vehicle ferries leave from....

Bet these guys race on each trip! From Songterm ferry looking at Lomprayah .... just about to take over!
