Kindle Won't Connect To True Internet

Featured Replies

I bought a Kindle about 3 years ago and could connect to wifi in lots of cafes but not at my condo. At my new condo I was able to connect, so forgot about the problem. But at my new condo I can't connect either. At both these condos I use True internet. In the condo where I could connect I used Buddy.

Is this just a coincidence, or is there something odd about a Kindle/True connection. Other laptops and smartphones can connect, so it seems a bit of a bizarre situation. I contact Kindle support at the first condo and they tried everything to get it to connect, but couldn't.

Has anyone connected their Kindle to True internet wifi, or had similar problems?

Anyone have any idea what may be wrong?

I have a kindle, and True internet, and it connects perfectly to the wifi, and has since I bought the kindle. So no problem with True and kindles.

Do you see your true network listed as detected by your kindle? If you do, what exactly happens when you try to connect?

Amazon did suggest sending it back for a replacement the first time, but it seemed too much of a hassle, as I can download books via PC, or at a cafe.

I see the True wifi, I enter password, its say 'connecting' for quite a while, but then gives a message saying it's unable to connect and do I want to enter the password again or set up the network manually. I know the password is correct. It's just so bizarre. Everything else connects to True wifi, and Kindle connects to all other wifs I try. It's just that this Kindle won't connect to this wifi.

If I enter the wrong password, I get a message saying that the password is wrong. If I enter the correct password, I get the can't connect message. So it knows that password is correct, but can't connect.

Puzzling--I can't help really, as I'v never had the problem. In fact just checked my Kindle and it detected one local unsecured network, which I just connected to successfully, then changed back to mine, no problem.

I suggest you try to set up the network manually and see what steps it asks you to go through. When I switch my kindle wireless on by switching "airplane mode" off, it never asks me for my password, just connects, so it has stored the password.

The fact that yours asks for the password each time suggests you have set it up differently to the way I did , so you might want to fiddle with that...

It's set up to save the passwords, because when I connect to wifi at a cafe I've already used, it never asks for the password. It asks now because it's never successfully connected. I tried the manual settings, but they are all set correctly, so seems to be the same as the auto. The most puzzling thing is that the router seems to be checking the password and knowing it's correct, but still not connecting. If I put in the wrong password, it tells me. So it's definitely communicating with the router. I think it will have to remain a mystery.

You need to disable the landing page coming with True ADSL router, then restart both router and kindle.

Been there, done that. Solved!

I tried that but it didn't work. I no longer get the True landing page, but I still can't connect to my Kindle.
