PATTAYA: -- Pattaya Police arrested Mr. Peter Junas, an Australian national, who is believed to be involved in Credit Card Scam Gang in Pattaya, Chonburi province.

Reportedly, Pattaya Police was alerted by Siam Commercial Bank to investigate about a foreign man, who used fake credit card to withdraw money from the Automated Teller Machine (ATM) in the area.

CCTV records have helped the police to identify the accused and later led to the arrest, it was reported.

Upon the arrest, police has also retrieved 271 artificial cards and THB 10,000 cash from Mr. Junas, who later confessed to his crime.

Mr. Junas added that the card was provided by his Spanish friend known as “Eillen”, ages around 42 years old. The team splits benefits, as the money which Mr. Junas had withdrawn will be sent to Eillen, while Mr. Junas got 25% return.

Pattaya police then pressed charges against the Australian man of using false electronic card. Moreover, Mr. Junas had been arrested of smuggling and theft, prior to this case.

Mr. Junas will have to face trial in court, while police said they will continue with further investigation.

PATTAYA: -- A former Australian Doorman, who was arrested in May 2011 for theft, has allegedly re-offended by using blank ATM cards containing stolen information to withdraw money from the accounts of unsuspecting victims.

Police arrested Mr. Peter Junas aged 42 in the early hours of Sunday at the Icon Place Apartments in Soi Neun Plub Wan following reports from the Siam Commercial Bank that on Saturday the suspect had attempted to withdraw money using a blank ATM card containing stolen bank account details.

And for stealing Nigerian jobs on top of that....

Nothing is sacred any more....

To be fair his approach is a tad more sophisticated than some other attempts at ATM tampering and hardly a "profession" reserved just for Nigerians

The three latest stupid criminals in Thailand are, unfortunately, British. Three men who ran out of money (and have obviously never heard of getting a job!) so decided to solve their financial problems by stealing ATM machines in Pattaya.

During their first attempt, they managed to badly damage an ATM machine at a Bangkok Bank in Bo Win. Their attempt involved tying a rope to the back of a truck, then attaching it to the ATM machine and trying to pull the machine out of the wall. Needless to say, they caused damage to the ATM machine but couldn’t get the machine off the wall.

42 and no skills other than being a scammer criminal...sad.

He also knows how to open doors...

I think they may mean he was a security guard (doorman) also known as bouncers. Hardly your most educated group of people in Australia. 2nd offence, well I hope he actually gets a decent stint in the Hilton and Australia doesn't want him back.

Wondering if this is the same Peter Junas who was arrested back in June 2011 for burglary on hotels and the theft of safes. He was 42 back then also. looks like the same bloke and also a doorman. I guess he didn't do to much prison time back then or was deported. Maybe he had enough funds to avoid punishment.

mmm ... Thai justice.... lets see... 1000 bath must do it.

The new tourist court, 500 baht seems to be the maximum fine and penalty. Well for Thais anyway. This guy should bet away with 50 baht as they are set up to help farangs.

never commit crimes in other countries except your own.

Or is that:

Only commit crimes in your own country ?

What ones would you recommend we commit?

because you never know whether you will get a heavier sentencing elsewhere other than your own country.
