I see he's made an effort to dress for the occasion.

Maybe he spent all his money on the shirts giggle.gif

I wonder who the other three goons, the only ones wearing "police" shirts, are? Presumably they're volunteer police officers or civilians impersonating police officers, or not of course, as the shirts are not official uniform clothing. I don't see the point of this at all...oh, yes I do.

Thanks for calling the Kamala volunteers goons mate, shows your unbiased view. clap2.gif The shirts are the official uniform for duty on the beach as authorized by Col. Chakrabhandhu, the head of the Kamala police station and in charge of these volunteers. Btw. The "goons" in Kamala are all former law enforcement officers or officers with similar experience in the uniformed service. Hope you see the point now...thumbsup.gif

You wouldn't be one of those in the photo, would you?

Most of us know exactly why the T-shirts were donated.

Oh you exposed me now, congrats Sherlock and Watson! clap2.gif

Does it make a difference????

To give you some insight, the owner of the Aussie Pub donated about 12 shirts to the volunteers because the dress shirts are not practical on the beach.

Of course with his logo on one sleeve smile.png Then the Colonel saw it and asked to have these shirts for his men.

He was not concerned about the advertising on it so the bar owner had them done, clever PR coup I reckon!

But you knew exactly already by looking deep down your cristal ball, or was it the beer glass?whistling.gif

The Thai police have their own T shirts with an official logo, they are white, and if you look on the photo you see there are two Thai guys who appear, as most do, to be wearing them under the uniform. I was kindly given one as a momento when I stayed as a guest in a police box near Ching Mai around 25 years ago! I never wore it, didn't seem right. Then after middle age spread set in wouldn't have fit anyway!

Are the police really a charity organisation?

I think yes, as many of us have made a roadside donation (or two).

In the rural areas in those days the police had spartan accomodation in the "police Box" (Office) bunks and the usual cook outside facilities, They stayed over a few days then the shift changed. I arrived in the town and asked where there was a hotel, I had cycled from Chiang Mai. There was no hotel but they told me if I would stay a couple of days and share their accomodation they would like to practice speaking English. Apparently their English, which was very good, was learnt at school, and while they read English newspapers they never got the chance to speak the language. So I became guest for 3 days, played the local snooker champion, pulled off an amazing fluke shot on the pink then missed an easy black. I am useless at snooker but it was thought I had deliberately thrown the game to let the other guy win,I was congratulated many times for my thoughtful gesture!

Great experiences in those days, including a rather embarrassed police escort to a hotel in the next town after being greeted by the police chief who had requested I stop by.

A fair charitable gesture to get the monkey’s off his back; by putting shirts on them.

Many don’t realize what it takes to do business in a district like Kamala while at the same time being seen to be helping the local community at times. The late Paul Gibson, ex-GM of Yorkshire Inn Patong, also did the same but the scope of the charity extended mainly to kids.

Guy tries to do a nice thing, instead of slagging the cops, and all of you guys want to crap all over him.

Good on ya, mate, as they say in your country. (?)

I agree...to a point!

If he had done it purely as a "nice thing"..and kept it private..kudos to him

But to have it a ''news event" and out in the publics eye...its only natural and probably deserving that he will cop the crap ,as he is.

cops or an orphanage....cops or an orphanage...hmmmm.....I have a bar....so cops it'll be.....but I dun want any appreciation, its not for brownies or protection.....nope....its cos I hate kids and love the thai police, they so much more deserving.

Oh, and best give the paper a call before we do the handing over ceremony

In my opinion, I think he has embarrassed himself a little by publicizing the fact that he appears to be attempting to cultivate an improper assocition with the local police.

Next photoshoot will be one of the top BIB a**e with only the feet of the geezer making the donation dangling like a bunch of 'Chalfonts"

The guy got what he wanted.

A photo op with the local BIB should raise his 'connected' status up a few notches and impress his bar stool sychophants.

These will make nice gifts for the mia nois.

Polishing cloths for the gold police star on the Honda Accord grill.

Tourist Assistants would be more appropriate

Or drug dealers...
