purchasing online

Featured Replies

I am interested to know where and with what payment method gamers are purchasing their games online? I have, up until recently, bought all my games in stores, but now I see that i am missing out on a lot of international games and would like to get more involved!

So what online stores / platforms are you using and what is the easiest/safest payment method to make purchases?

Beware of anything you import. Normally there is a 20% import tax as well as 7% VAT on the cost of the goods as well as thipping fee. This basically makes a purchase about 3 times the cost from overseas.

Further, now the post office as well as customs are stopping vegetable seeds from being imported. They are concerned over GM seeds entering the country. I did not know this and FedEx arrange for a person to clear for me a 33$ order that they wanted to charge me $200 to clear. Bloody amazing.

I use Steam online, pay with my UK credit card & d/l the game, works well mostly although occasionally the servers are very busy...

yeah, steam works really well for me too. I always pay with paysafecard but they have many payment options availaibe.

If i were you i would go have a look on their hp.

hey hey thanks!

Yes Steam - I am aware of that site - have yet to purchase anything from it though as i wanted to speak with people that are a bit more experienced than I am.

I am also weary of paying online - giving my deatils and account information so I would probably not go for any site where I have to pay with CC or PP etc...

@wizoo what exaclty is this payment method you mentioned? Does anyone else know about it / use it?

you can google cd key sites and they usually sell keys that u can use on steam and so on, i like steam different places always have different sales check out humble bundle they sometimes have some good indie and even mainstream stuff going cheaply

Just a thought, I always pay by credit card online because, UK ones anyway protect you from online fraud, if someone steals your details they'll refund you & chase up the criminals, the only snag seems to be that they cancel your old card & issue you with a new one which is then a pain to get from the UK to Thailand...
