Car Blue Book transfer. Help needed asap. Thanks

Hi all,

I currently have a car for sale in Pattaya that has Bangkok number plates. When I purchased the car from a Thai national, I had to meet him at the Bangkok motor registry, have the cars VIN inspected and confirmed and supply my immigration paperwork to have the blue book changed into my name.

I currently have someone who wants to buy the car but they are from Hua Hin. I was under the impression that to sell the car I would have to repeat the above process at the Bangkok registry because of the Bangkok plates but the new prospective buyer is telling me different. They are prepared to pay me in cash but the following has me concerned so could any other expats please advise me?

The prospective expat buyer is willing to come to Pattaya to buy the car but they are telling me that I do not need to go to the Bangkok registry with them to complete the sale. They are suggesting all I need to do is supply them with a copy of my passport and visa. From there they will drive back to Hua Hin where they will alter the blue book name and have the number plates change so they are Hua Hin and not Bangkok. Is this usual practice and legit or should I become suspicious about handing over this information and not seeing the newly altered blue book reflecting the new owners details?

Any help would be much appreciated.

No need for them to change plates. You sign the transfer form along with signed copy of your p.p and they will ammend book at either prachuap or petburi
