Golfing.......clubs and trees

I've got a few friends coming into town very soon and they like to golf.

They'd like to rent clubs at one place or shop and use them on all the courses they play. U know..........

Is there a place that rents clubs other than at the courses for the round?

They also like the older courses with mature trees, like the Gymkana. Are there other older courses around with mature trees?

Thanks

I recently used GolfAsian for a party of 8 and they were flawless. They also seemed very knowledgable about the courses, and I'm sure they'd be able to answer your questions. Give them a try. They will organise transfers too if you need them.

You could do some research yourself elsewhere:

Mae Jo would fit the bill for good mature course-check out website. They rent clubs but not cheap and they will do a round trip collection and return for 1200 baht-not too bad if split 4 ways! But also try Magnus at Teeoffgolf who gives great service and knows all the courses well.

Mae Jo, not a tree to be seen other than s few fruit trees off the course. A good course to get sunburn.

Lanna is an old course with a lot of old trees, but it has a high slope rating ie it is one of the more difficult courses in Chiang Mai.

Alpine and highlands although a little way out do have a few grown trees.

They might enjoy gold canyon out near Lamphun which is also nicely tree'd. At least on one nine.

Another course to consider is Gasson Khuntan.

Moswt of these clubs have golf sets for hire around the 4-500 baht range.

i would say the course with the most trees is easily Royal Chiangmai, followed by Alpine. maejo has plenty of big trees also except on a few holes. Lanna has mature trees only on course A 9. B has a few, and C is the racetrack 9, has zilch. Highlands doesnt have many trees although its a great course. Gold canyon and inthanon don't have many but both quite interesting if a little far.

It must be many many years since you played mae Jo! I am a member there and only one hole is tree-less and that's the short par 3 7th, and even that has small trees on the tee.!! Skills32-hmm... maybe golf is the 33rd skill then. Or maybe you couldnt see the wood for the trees.

These do what your friends require.

http://www.siamgolfevents. com/rent-clubs/

They are here in the high season and prices are high even for residents see this site:

ChiangmaiGolfCourses .com/blog .

Gymkhana is around THB600 for 18 holes including caddy fee, the bigger courses will be 4 times that or more. The only exception is Gold Canyon at least for November, THB800 walking, THB1200 with cart inclusive.

If on a budget and a bit of a challenge, plenty of trees and water, although very basic, Sand Creek at THB240 for 18 holes inclusive.
