BANGKOK, Nov 16 – The Democrat Party has petitioned the Senate, seeking to impeach Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra and two Cabinet members for corruption and violations of the law.

Jurin Laksanawisit, chief opposition whip, yesterday submitted the petition, signed by 146 Democrat MPs, to Deputy Senate Speaker Surachai Liengboonlertchai in an attempt to remove Ms Yingluck, Deputy Prime Minister Plodprasop Suraswadi and Interior Minister Charupong Ruangsuwan.

Mr Jurin refused to disclose details of the petition but merely said it was confidential.

Mr Surachai said he would check the authenticity of the petition before forwarding it to the National Anti-Corruption Commission within 15 days.

If the three Cabinet members are found guilty, the Senate will be obliged to dismiss them, he said.

The Democrat Party later submitted a request for a non-confidence debate against the prime minister and interior minister.

The proposal was handed over to House Speaker Somsak Kiatsuranont who would not commit on when the censure debate will be held.

Somsak said he would convene a meeting of legal advisors on Monday to check the validity of the motion.

Mr Jurin said opposition MPs should be allowed to fully debate against the prime minister who should make herself present at the House of Representatives to personally give her clarifications. (MCOT online news)

Ohh lord ! If the dems want to get into government they need the entire PTP to go. And the best chance of that happening is whilst Yingluck is PM. If they succeed in ousting her that may well be enough to swing the Thai voting public to once again get behind the PTP. Leaving the dems without a seat when the music stops.

How did Abhisit got to become PM?

That is the seat they are working on and... maybe the music will not stop.

Previously didn't the democrats accuse Yingluck of possible vote buying because she cooked noodles in Nakon

What's next - ban PTP - after all I'm sure their members have all been involved in food preparation

And now she's accused of corruptly attempting to assist her brother, a much more serious offence.

What's next - ban PTP because they voted for it, and some of them even might go to jail with her.

Why don't they have another election? Oh, wait...they can't win.

'Democracy' at its finest. Burma here we come...

PTP probably would win the next election, if they still exist by then.

But the 'one man' is worried that their majority would be damaged to the point whereby he wouldn't be able to tell enough of the HoR how to vote.

Who can't win? If PTP are so sure of winning, why hasn't the new election already been announced?

I am not too verbal in this cesspool of Thai politics and really don't give a s**t about Thai politics but if PTP were so sure of their strength position they would have already held a referendum for the 'Amnesty" for the Dubai Dandy and would have avoided all this crap that is going on today. My guess is that TS and YL are two very worried souls today, this possibly is the last chance for the 'champion of democracy' to get the money back which he stole from the Thai taxpayer.

Why is the (so called) details of the petition confidential?

If these guy's had evidence ( not the fabricated kind used last time to steal government ) of "corruption and violations of the law" why are they not crowing it from the highest buildings and having multiple finger pointing photos in the papers and on the tv?

it's ok though yellow shirts, when this is found to be a steaming pile of sh*t then some other accusations will be invented and you guy's can have another crack at stealing government, cause ya couldn't win one legally now can ya?w00t.gif

But hey if Yingluck and the 3 ministers are guilty then let the full weight of the law fall.

??? when did someone steal government with evidences (fabricated or not fabricated)??

What taxpayer money and how much did TS steal?

You don't get it do you? I will explain for you.

The reason they are not shouting it from the rooftops is because that would not really be the best thing to do. Not everyone are like the stupid PTP.

They have released the general intention, they held back the details of the accusations. This is probably for two reasons. Some things can prejudice a case if made public, especially early on even before a case is brought. Secondly, for-warning the defendants will only give them the ability to get everything brushed over and the correct people paid to wriggle out of this.

I think it is a very clever move.

Think about it.

Put Yingluck squarely in the spotlight with no per-warning to answer the questions regarding the evidence that support the accusations. No script from big bro, just straight questions and answers without outside interference. She will fall apart on the spot, that's if she can even understand the questions.

Blurting out the evidence from the start like I said will ensure the corruption and intimidation machine starts grinding into action which would probably scupper the whole case.

Do you really think that Miss Y doesn't already know the full content of the accusations ?

They have already said that her Singapore shopping trip was arranged before all this came to light, she will be trying new outfits and eating Nasi Goreng whilst all this goes down...
