BANGKOK: -- Protesters who blow whistles against any officials of the Department of Special Investigation or their chief, Tarit Pengdit, may face legal actions.

The warning of criminal litigation against whistle blowers was issued Monday by the DSI chief. He said that the whistle blowers would be deemed committing an offence against Section 370 of the Criminal Code for causing noise unreasonably and against Section 397 of the same code for bullying or for putting someone to shame.

He defended that the warning was not intended to escalate the political temperature but wanted to pre-empt violence.

Tarit also warned DSI officials not to blow whistles as a gesture of protest against their superiors otherwise they may face dismissal from the service.

He accused former Democrat MP and protest leader Suthep Thuagsuban of inciting the protesters to oust him from the office and to blow whistles at him whenever they confront him. He claimed that Suthep held personal grudges against him because Suthep is being investigated by the DSI on several cases.

All you'd get from the local BIB is DILLIGAF. Call the DSI, the local equivalent of the FBI, if you want action on a noise complaint.

Another example of using a official position for a personal purpose for which the office was never intended. The man has been issuing warning/threats of prescuation/asset seizer, to protestors, their sponsers, leaders and now the whistle blowers. This is susposed to be an investigative branch of the legal system and, not the gastopo.

Another good canidate for impeachment proceedings, along with a few others that have been overlooked to date. The actions, press releases of this government are getting more unbelievable every day, and they seem too incompent to even see how much of an arse they are making of themselves.

The most fitting action that comes to mind is putting them on a short leash, muzzle them, nuter them, then follow a frecn example, release all prisoners from a penal facility and put them behind the bars.

In a related story k. Tarit has been accused of provoking Thai people in protesting against the government. Spokes persons of the Labour organisation representing professional whistleblowers like parkinglot guards, BTS whislers and the like, have issued a statement saying anyone trying to take away their whistle would be charged as being unconstitutional. It should be clear and obvious that a whistle cannot be taken away without causing serious harm to workers and the Thai economy.
