Abhisit challenges Yingluck to announce her stand on court's ruling

BANGKOK: -- Democrat party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva Friday challenged Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra to publicly announce whether her government would accept or reject the Constitution Court’s judgement on the Senate amendment draft.

The prime minister, said Abhisit, cannot remains aloof of the current political crisis which the Democrat party has blamed on the government for its own making citing the blanket amnesty bill which was already shot down after mass protest and the charter amendment draft which was ruled unconstitutional by the charter court.

“That she (the prime minister) said that she could not say whether the court’s judgement would be accepted or not means that she would accept the judgement only when it is in favor of the government?” asked the Democrat leader.

In her capacity as a proponent of the amendment draft, he suggested the prime minister to seek an audience with His Majesty the King and to report to him the entire matter in order to put the issue to rest.

He warned that if the prime minister chose to do nothing about the amendment draft, the crisis would deepen and, as a consequence, the country and the people would be affected.

Abhisit reaffirmed the party’s plan to grill the prime minister and Interior Minister Charupong Ruangsuwan in a censure debate. He demanded that the debate be held on two days and the vote should take place on the third day. But it appeared that the Pheu Thai party would agree to one and a half day debate.

How many government leaders would, could or do, ignore the law, disrespect the courts and only abide by judgement's that they consider favourable?

And, in what type of countries does this happen?

An honorable and ethical person would have resigned by now.

Yingluck simply cannot do as Abhisit requests has she simply doesn't have an opinion and stand. She does as she's told.

The censure debate was scheduled for 2 days, with a vote on the third. Everyone knows how the vote will go, but it's all about what the public will hear in the debates. Now PTP seem to want to halve the time. I doubt this will happen. Thaksin won't want Yingluck exposed to having to answer questions, She can't debate, doesn't know the details and will look silly or be caught lying (again). Something will crop up to stop this happening,

Put up or shut up! Mr. Abhisit doesn't leave her much wiggle room. Poor Dr. Thaksin, who is the only person in the World who can make decisions in this government, is so distracted by all the court rulings, present and future, increasing street protests, threatened corruption charges, potential party dissolution, inability to pay the rice farmers, inability to get the flood scheme off the ground, etc. and now his sister is asking him how to respond to Mr. Abhisit's challenge. He's going to have to use a stronger hair dye after this

If KY doesn't watch it Sunisa could be the next 'real PM'. wink.png

I like the change from YL to KY. Very appropriate. Used by the criminal on the run to screw his country.

Yingluck would have to ask brother what her opinion is first but he is a bit stressed at the moment.

You what ???? <deleted>, are you talking about ????

I suggest you ask the P.M. to set a date for the election, and you inform the military to stop dining with K Abhisit.

It is traditionally on channel NBT, free channel 11, live. But you never know, the way Somsak tried to wriggle out of putting it on the agenda they may try to ban its broadcast- other programmes scheduled etc but I doubt it- it should be on.

5555 Apisit a coward- he didn't run away to Dubai, he didn't try to gain an amnesty for himself.

He simply asked the PM to show her standpoint- but she can't until she's consulted skype.

What a terrible government!

Yes, they should have an election, but first let's hear some constructive debate and answers that one woud expect from the Prime Minister of Thailand.

Puppet. Puppet. Puppet. Three times.

Yingluck has made her stance perfectly clear to we students of English.

She says it's unpresidented

She must have picked this word up from one of her Oxford educated friends. They don't teach big words like this at KSU.

Well, despite all his manipulation and rabble rousing, Thaksin certainly remains unpresidented.

Why does anyone has to challenge anybody, to comment on this?

It was decided in an International Court of Justice and therefor will surely be honored by the Primeminister, her party, Mr. Abisith and all other law abiding citizens in Thailand...

Earth calling DocN, come in DocN. Read the OP before jumping on your high horse, DocN. This is not about the ICJ ruling.
