webfact
Abhisit challenges Yingluck to announce her stand on court's rulingBANGKOK: -- Democrat party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva Friday challenged Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra to publicly announce whether her government would accept or reject the Constitution Court’s judgement on the Senate amendment draft. The prime minister, said Abhisit, cannot remains aloof of the current political crisis which the Democrat party has blamed on the government for its own making citing the blanket amnesty bill which was already shot down after mass protest and the charter amendment draft which was ruled unconstitutional by the charter court.“That she (the prime minister) said that she could not say whether the court’s judgement would be accepted or not means that she would accept the judgement only when it is in favor of the government?” asked the Democrat leader. In her capacity as a proponent of the amendment draft, he suggested the prime minister to seek an audience with His Majesty the King and to report to him the entire matter in order to put the issue to rest.He warned that if the prime minister chose to do nothing about the amendment draft, the crisis would deepen and, as a consequence, the country and the people would be affected.Abhisit reaffirmed the party’s plan to grill the prime minister and Interior Minister Charupong Ruangsuwan in a censure debate. He demanded that the debate be held on two days and the vote should take place on the third day. But it appeared that the Pheu Thai party would agree to one and a half day debate.Source: http://englishnews.thaipbs.or.th/abhisit-challenges-yingluck-announce-stand-courts-ruling/-- Thai PBS 2013-11-23
Popular Post rametindallas
Put up or shut up! Mr. Abhisit doesn't leave her much wiggle room. Poor Dr. Thaksin, who is the only person in the World who can make decisions in this government, is so distracted by all the court rulings, present and future, increasing street protests, threatened corruption charges, potential party dissolution, inability to pay the rice farmers, inability to get the flood scheme off the ground, etc. and now his sister is asking him how to respond to Mr. Abhisit's challenge. He's going to have to use a stronger hair dye after this

Baerboxer
How many government leaders would, could or do, ignore the law, disrespect the courts and only abide by judgement's that they consider favourable? And, in what type of countries does this happen? An honorable and ethical person would have resigned by now. Yingluck simply cannot do as Abhisit requests has she simply doesn't have an opinion and stand. She does as she's told. The censure debate was scheduled for 2 days, with a vote on the third. Everyone knows how the vote will go, but it's all about what the public will hear in the debates. Now PTP seem to want to halve the time. I doubt this will happen. Thaksin won't want Yingluck exposed to having to answer questions, She can't debate, doesn't know the details and will look silly or be caught lying (again). Something will crop up to stop this happening,

It is traditionally on channel NBT, free channel 11, live. He simply asked the PM to show her standpoint- but she can't until she's consulted skype. What a terrible government!

How dare you flee the country, incite people to protest on your behalf from the handbag salon of the Louis Vuitton store in Paris, and to top it all off, introduce a bill into parliament trying to give amnesty to your crimes. What a yellow chicken. A big girl's blouse. A disgrace to the human race. What a cad(dy)!

Why you don't challenges PM Yinluck in a new election !!! you only hide behind the Military constitution Laws wich is written for you amd the so called Democratic party. It has been suggested (not only by Abhisit but by many people in Thailand ...) that it is time to call for a snap election. YL apparently has been given her marching orders by her older brother and is not doing so. Which means your post is simply nonsense. Your assumption regarding the constitution that is in place is as nonsensical as the rest of your post. I suggest you look at the 1997 constitution and the current one. They are very similar. Returning to a 50/50 appointed/elected senate, strengthening the checks and balances demolished under Thaksin, and of course the amnesty for the coup-makers of 2006 are the significant differences. The latter is a moot point now since under Thai jurisprudence the coup-makers cannot be charged now even if that was changed. Chris, it would really help if you did some research on this topic.

Abhisit is doing what any good politician does, making his opponents look like complete idiots ( which is very easy in this case since they are ) and the worse they look now the easier his job will be later. Smart moves from an educated man who is much better suited for the job than the current crop of crooks...
