bangkok to mahasarakham

Featured Replies

Hey all,

I am trying to figure out a way of getting from bangkok to mahasarakham on the 29th of December...

I have been looking at flights and prices are roughly 7000 bhat return, which is a bit steap...

I have been told the normal bus is a nightmare with it being new years, and id be surrounded by people standing etc, wondering if anyone knows of any decent smaller busses?

Thanks

My suggestion would be to buy well in advance a NCA NakhonChaiAir reserved seat bus ticket from Mochit/BKK to Khon Kaen and then get a bus to Mahasarakham from there. http://www.nakhonchaiair.com/index.php

NCA has their own small terminal near MoChit. You can (I believe) make the reservation on the telephone and then pay and get the ticket at a 7-11 although I have never done this.

Rent a car and drive up.

The Sahaphan Tour Premium bus from Morchit to Roi-Et stops in Mahasrakham. It is pretty good, with single seats on one side and 2 seats on the other. Chairs are big and comfy, recline and often are massage style. The price is Bt 479 one way. Even if it is new year they won't be having people standing on there.

I have been using it to get to Roi-Et and back the last few weeks as the wife, kids and car are up there at the moment. It is an Express bus so has done the 500-ish km journey in 6/7 hours, as it doesn't stop anywhere. That obviously depends on what the traffic is like.

I usually get the 18.00 bus and get in Roi-Et at 00.30-ish.

You can buy tickets on the 3rd floor at Morchit (can't remember the booth no), or ask whoever you are visiting to buy one in Sarakham and post down to you. As it is new year book early.

I dont know who you checked for flights but Nok Air fly to Roi-Et, which is only 60/70kms away. I just checked availability and it is Bt 2,796 one way on the 29th. Return will be dependent on when you want to fly.

No Air to Roi-et, I just checked on December 29 they have a morning flight and an evening flight. Just under ฿2,800 one way.

Ticket counter for Sahaphan on the 3rd floor of Mochit is #'s 21 and 22.
