Visa Run To Aranyaprathet

Featured Replies

I've never done the visa run before, so excuse me if this is a dumb question. I don't particularly need or want to go to Cambodia, nor do I want to wait in more queues, nor do I want to pay them $20 for a visa.

Is it possible, after getting my exit stamp from Thailand, to go around to the other side of the building and get stamped back in to Thailand - without actually entering Cambodia?

Anything is possible. But immigration is not likely to allow you to enter Thailand without an exit stamp from Cambodia so you would be told to get same rather than being stamped into Thailand.

If you do not believe this is taken seriously please read this on home page of Aranyaprathet Immigration:

Note: If you have paid the overstay fine and are stamped out of Thailand, the Cambodian Immigration could reject entry and send you back to Thailand without stamping you in and out of Cambodia. In this case the Thai Immigration will have to send you to Immigration Bureau in Bangkok for investigation/interrogation/deportation.

- Cambodian Immigration could reject entry for different reasons. This is nothing to do with Thai Immigration.

As a general rule the immigration officer wants to see and actually checks the exit-stamp

when you enter Thailand by a land-border crossing.

Different story if one arrives by air as nearly impossible to check where you are really coming from.

Simple answer is NO.

You must enter then leave Cambodia.

Naka.

To avoid queues and hassles you could go with Jack Golf or similar who charge around 2000B including lunch, Camb visa, transport etc.

You could also get your Cambodian visa in advance from the Embassy in BKK which could save you some hassle.

If you do it alone heres some advice.

Ignore everyone, get your head down and walk past the queues of Thais and straight into Thai Immigration for your exit stamp.

Then cross over to the covered Cambodian Visa section and get your visa there (Should take about 5 mins)

Next, walk through 'no man's land' and get stamped into Cambodia. They will try and sting you for 300B for a turnaround but they settle for 100B. Then cross the road and get stamped out of Cambodia and head back to Thai Immigration!

Its dead easy. If you don't know this border very well you could even get one of the touts to show you the way for 100B. That could save you a lot of hassle.

the best advise I can give is to avoid Aran/PoiPet at all and head with one of the operators to Ban Laem,ad's are in BKKPost.

No hassle at all.
